Are your friends' microphones properly set up in Steam's voice settings?
The issue might be coming from there because sometimes the microphone isn't recognized in the game. To fix this, you can open the Steam overlay by pressing [Shift + Tab]. Then, click on "Settings" -> "In-Game Voice" -> "Select a Device" and choose the correct microphone.
Keep me updated if your friends still have the issue after that 🙂
I did this and it is not working. I tested it in the steam settings and it does detect
Unfortunatly, we are completely relying on the audio settings of Steam, we can't include these options directly in the game settings because Steam doesn't allow changes to its input/output settings through the game.
Have you also checked that your microphone isn't being used by another app (like Discord) or that you haven't muted yourself when you're in-game?
If you've changed the voice settings outside of the game, don't hesitate to open Steam's settings again using the Steam overlay once you're in-game. Go to "In-Game Voice Settings" and double-check that the correct input is selected, as sometimes Steam assigns a different voice input for the "In-Game Voice Settings" even if you've set it before in the "Voice Settings" outside of the game.
I really hope this helps 🤞
Hello AbeAlaric,
Since we rely on Steam's audio settings, we can't include this option directly in the game settings. Steam doesn’t allow us to change its input/output settings through the game itself.
For most players, the following steps are usually enough to solve the issue:
Sometimes, this doesn’t work on the first try, but restarting Steam completely and trying again has helped.
It has also been noted that some amplifiers may cause this issue. Are you using one by any chance?
I’m here if you need further help to resolve this!
