How's the game like?
I played Toram back when it's released on Steam and I didn't like the gameplay, so how's this one like? And how P2W it is compared to other MMORPGs?

Also, is this game more like a mobage since I've seen gacha banners like Toram?

I really liked it when i played it like a year ago. I didn't get very far though, so I can't speak for the p2w aspect. The gameplay is pretty different from toram iirc, I think it's turn based, but again it's been a while since I played so i could be wrong

The game has a rather interesting take on the usual formula, it has clearly been designed for players that are new to MMOs/gachas while still having the depth of a normal MMO.
In terms of whether or not it's P2W... I've played the game for a long time (on mobile) and I'm not even close to endgame, I don't believe there's any distinction between free and paid players at lower lvls, you get enough free gacha draws to more-or-less guarantee you have good gear... which is barely any different to the "best" gear available. 99% of your stats come from your lvls.
Which brings me to another point, the game is grindy, almost every job has "common" passive skills which are applied to all jobs once unlocked, so you need to lvl all jobs, while there are some exp boosts available from the cash shop, they barely add anything in the long run

Basically, the game is definitely not pay-to-win pre-endgame... and it will take you a long time to reach endgame...

Imagine playing the old FF1~9 series on MMO environment and you get Alchemia Story. This used to be the very 1st game in history to be able to pull off an Online Open World RPG with that FF styled turned based battle back 5 years ago. With a Yome (Waifu) system that is similar to the Pet system in most MMO games with battle pets. Even after 5 years, this game still have one of the best looking character creator, so you can easily create an anime character that you like, with Yome, you can create 2 characters.

The story is decent, and unlike a lot of MMORPG that only the main character is involved in the story, in Alchemia Story your Yome is part of the story and he/she will show up in cutscenes and such with his/her dialog as part of the story. But the voice acting is cheap "book reading". If you are active enough you can easily hit end game, at least that's how it used to be before i went hiatus on the game back then, the story updates used to be slow and most players hit "end game" and have to wait for a month to months for new story. And back then there's a level cap to prevent players from leveling up too fast. Not too sure how is it now though, it's been 5 years after all, but judging from the main menu when i tried out here on Steam, nothing much have changed.

In aspect of "Pay to Win", this game's pvp is team battle and more focused on task battle and not direct player battling player. So you don't get that "p2w" part in pvp at least. But bear in mind that this game is a fashion vanity type of game where showing off your looks is what people do at end game, hanging out around towns and chatting is what veteran do most, especially for those that've finished their training and have nothing else to do. So, those with money to gacha for fashion items are still "winning" in this aspect since as far as i remember, you can only trade event items and not the gacha items. Plus, gacha items have stats and power creeps, meaning life is easier for those who can do gacha frequently. Free players will have to plan and use their free crystals wisely or get stuck in game at hard contents imo...

It's a slot machine disguised as a game, like most other mobile titles, they don't even bother to try and hide the mobile HUD in this one.

I wonder why no one has brought up the topic yet that gems expire after 180 days and we get useless Revival Medicine

The game is fun to play, some things are quite grindy like materials to unlock the Tier 3 jobs and to craft end game weapons, but other than that its fine, you have many jobs to choise from and to master,if you have and old acc i suggest you to get a new one because i think they have more advantage, being a newbie in a new acc you get tons of stuff, all the tier 1 jobs maxout (not the explorer tho) once you unlock them,as for the gems and the gacha you can focus on one set of ability armor and i think as f2p you can get it but the dupes you will need to invest or farm alot of gems for it.

That's why people keep the gems in the gift box, there's no expiration date for that.

I'mma just say this, i do not know how they got the info on the gems expiring after 180 days (was gone for about a year before, same amount of gems as left as came back) there was a bug before where gems disappeared(They patched it, and gave everyone 1k gems) and the revival medicine i believe is NOT useless cause you can use it if incase of you dying during a battle and you run out of free revives(I have done this vs faffy, stupid last tap momento) also, I personally recommend doing a NEW account, also all these complainers i have seen in every discussion i don't even believe they played the game for at least an hour, also, the hud kinda has to be there cause of again, mobile to steam compatability(Common coding problem, dunno see why its a big issue tho) the slot machine in a game comment is false, you CAN get very powerful weapons WITHOUT needing to do any lotto(gacha now called in the game) -looks at phantom, ousia, hestia, idea(most powerful btw, better that LR lotto), and AW(Akashic weapon, class specific weapons pretty much, think WoW artifacts) series- and the armor yes, you MAY need to do some armor ones, but wait until a annversery event or a special one, they can give many gems that will make getting the armors you WANT easily(do not do metas, they will cause you to die cause of the preperation needed, experienced players will tell you "Pull this lotto, do this task" no, all i say is do your main quests, do event, and have fun, the metas are stupid, and usually end up with people getting mad at you for messing it up) also, SUPER do NOT use the super earrings, they are a massive scam, and i have made a vendetta against super users that if i see one in my party when i get shaman party dies, and i have no regrets one bit - Ardiana aka Ayasei (Current Alchemia Player)
