In terms of whether or not it's P2W... I've played the game for a long time (on mobile) and I'm not even close to endgame, I don't believe there's any distinction between free and paid players at lower lvls, you get enough free gacha draws to more-or-less guarantee you have good gear... which is barely any different to the "best" gear available. 99% of your stats come from your lvls.
Which brings me to another point, the game is grindy, almost every job has "common" passive skills which are applied to all jobs once unlocked, so you need to lvl all jobs, while there are some exp boosts available from the cash shop, they barely add anything in the long run
Basically, the game is definitely not pay-to-win pre-endgame... and it will take you a long time to reach endgame...
The story is decent, and unlike a lot of MMORPG that only the main character is involved in the story, in Alchemia Story your Yome is part of the story and he/she will show up in cutscenes and such with his/her dialog as part of the story. But the voice acting is cheap "book reading". If you are active enough you can easily hit end game, at least that's how it used to be before i went hiatus on the game back then, the story updates used to be slow and most players hit "end game" and have to wait for a month to months for new story. And back then there's a level cap to prevent players from leveling up too fast. Not too sure how is it now though, it's been 5 years after all, but judging from the main menu when i tried out here on Steam, nothing much have changed.
In aspect of "Pay to Win", this game's pvp is team battle and more focused on task battle and not direct player battling player. So you don't get that "p2w" part in pvp at least. But bear in mind that this game is a fashion vanity type of game where showing off your looks is what people do at end game, hanging out around towns and chatting is what veteran do most, especially for those that've finished their training and have nothing else to do. So, those with money to gacha for fashion items are still "winning" in this aspect since as far as i remember, you can only trade event items and not the gacha items. Plus, gacha items have stats and power creeps, meaning life is easier for those who can do gacha frequently. Free players will have to plan and use their free crystals wisely or get stuck in game at hard contents imo...
It's a slot machine disguised as a game, like most other mobile titles, they don't even bother to try and hide the mobile HUD in this one.
