Impossible to play the game (huge lag)

Hi guys, I need help to play this game. Whatever I try the game is so laggy it's unplayable. I don't think it's a performance issue since I tried with fast setting in 640x480 and it's still lagging as much. My graphics card drivers are up to date and there is no problem with other games so I'm lost.

Actually the game runs fine in the very beginning like the first 10 seconds, but as soon as I get to control Thomas in the first level it starts lagging. Has someone got a similar issue?

I have the same problem, it's strange because I never used to, at least not this bad. So I have no idea what causes it. :( Shame because I love this game a lot. Might suggest uninstalling and re-installing?

Anyone else have this problem and find a resolution? I bought this game about a year and a half ago, and played up to 3.9 then, just fine. I tried picking it up again today, and it's unplayably laggy, no matter what resolution and graphical setting I choose. Very frustrating.

Edit: I just set it down to 640x480 and Fastest quality, and same thing. It hiccups every second or so, acting as if it's trying to load something from disk. I tried deleting and redownloading, and nothing changed. This is a Windows 7 laptop with Radeon graphics. Drivers are up to date and my specs are more than enough to meet the minimums.

Yes I found a solution.. I built a new PC and the game runs fine !
So no real solution, the game is still super laggy on my old computer. It has an nvidia, since you have the same issue with a radeon maybe the graphic card is not the issue.

I5, Radeon HD 5650, with Win 7 64bits, too lag too. But the same machine with Opensuse(the linux version of the game), it works perfect. Hope there is a solution(or a patch) to make it playable under the Windows.

Having the same problem. Level intros run smoothly at maximum settings, but as soon as gameplay starts I get hit with tremendous lag. Win7 64-bit, 4 GB RAM.
