What am I missing here?
No matter what you begin your knocking with the responding knock is always the same
1 knock, 3 knocks, 4 knocks
So the + - + is used on a continuing sum based your starting choice and the following responses i.e. +1, -3, +4. As you will find out if you do the sums it's impossible to succeed without at least 3 starting knocks and if you begin with more than 3 knocks you end up with more than the game allows. ALL... VERY... ANNOYING....
First round: 3 + 1 = 4
Second round 4 - 3 = 1
Third round 1 + 4 = 5
Less brainpower, more tedious pattern checking.
It's so quiet that I thought it's a background noises. And knocking subtitle flashes in a split second, you won't notise it. There is always something flashes on the screen
When you knock 3 times and enter it, Liebold replies with one knock. So, you add(+) 1 to your first number; 3+1 = 4. Now enter 4, and LIebold replies with 3 knocks. We now have, 34.
The next function is subtract according to the note; So, we subtract 3 knocks from 4, leaving us with 1. Liebold responds with 4 knocks this time. We now have 341.
Lastly, the final function from the note is addition(+ - +); We add 4 knocks to our previous number, 1, and we get 5; Now we have 3415 and the puzzle is complete.
The puzzle actually does make sense, even if it's convoluted. If you don't pick up on the clue that the note that Janosch gives you has 3 symbols on it, the only way to solve this puzzle is to brute force it. I went through all the combinations until I got to 34, then I saw what was going on, but, even then, I overlooked the response knocks of Liebold. I just always used the previous number in my calculations. 3415(assumed the previous number from 3 was 1); So, I had 3+1 = 4; 4-3 = 1; 4+1 = 5. It's similar to how a Fibonacci Sequence works.
I should do more knocks than him then less knocks than him then more?? Lol 😅
If only I'd known the first was definitely 1 it would have been Soooooooo much easier lol
