RPG Maker VX Ace appears in Japanese Text, please help thanks

Hi

I just started RPG Maker a short while back and the in-game text (when I am play testing) is in Japanese. Furthermore all the options such as the "Script Editor" (the comments and titles are all in Japanese), the Database options box has Japanese text etc..

How do I change it all back to English?

PS: For the scripting editor, is it Python that's being used?

At this point I'd like to add that YES I did pay for the game and all the DLCs. Thanks.
(I read that comment in some of the prior posts others made)

EDIT: I uninstalled the game from STEAM and redownloaded it. It still has japanese text please help thanks.

This usually happens with pirated RMs but if you honestly bought it...try googling an english template and making your game from that. Also the scripting language is RGSS3 Ruby.

Check that the Language options in Steam, for the Client and/or the Language setting for RPG Maker VxAce are set for English?

I had the same problem. The reason was I had downloaded the demo/free version from the official website. I bought it on steam and then I had to uninstall the old version and then create a new project to get it to work.

This issue only occurs for projects created with the Japanese version since there isn't any Japanese in the English version's default project (it was translated and no longer exists in English copies). The pirate versions are always based on the Japanese copies (well known fact) so it's generally a good indicator of who has illegitimate copies (don't lie, we already know). Regardless, the people in this thread did purchase Steam copies later.
