Save files not working!!!!

So basically my save files are not recognised by rpg maker. I have searched for multiple days now on solutions but nothing previously suggested works.

If i save a game and close the programm then the game is turned into a winrar file, when i try to re open the game later it will either be a previous version missing parts, or it will not load outright.

Basically i have to create the game all in one sitting without closing the program or turning off my computer otherwise all my work goes to waste.

When i finally get a game to load I cannot playtest it or modify it in any way because the save will be reset the next time i open it.

Have tried every solution that has been posted to date and would be gratefull if someone could help me out here.

I have never heard of the project file being turned into a winrar file. Does it still have the rvproj2 part as the extension at the end? If so then perhaps try right-clicking the project file and selecting ROG Maker as the default program to open the file with.

Thanks, just tried it but the same problems persist.

I can export the file to anywhere i want and it will look normal but still cant be opened from rpg maker.

Export? I think you might be doing the wrong function if that's the case. If so the it would make sense that you'd be getting either a zip file or an exe. Are you using the Floppy Disk looking icon?

i am saving normally but in the rpg maker folder it turns it into a zip file, i then try to open the game for more editing and it says that the file format is unknown or something like that, then when i extract the zip into the projects folder from rpg maker it says the same thing or when it does work, the playtesting fails.

Can you post Pictures of the Steps you are doing.
I have the feeling you are making some kind of mistake, but cant tell for sure,
thats why Pictures could help clarify.
(Specialy a Picture of the button you use for Saving)

Normaly RPG Maker does not compress to winrar, it has its own format to compress to, which people sometimes pack into win rar for some reasons afterwards. Thats why Pictures might help, because something is strange.

No, it does not turn into anything. You have done something to the file association that set the default program for this particular file type to something other than RM.

Or you have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up your computer to compress stuff automatically for you, for whatever reason.

Neither of these things RM can be faulted for.

It has been that way since i purchased the game, that is why i am looking for help, to say that it isn't rpg maker doesnt help me, the fact still remains that there is some problem preventing me from using the program how it is intended.

on that note, there doesnt seem to be a way for me to post pictures :/

If the Print Button doesnt work, because rpg maker window turns out to be shown black,
than you can use the inbuild windows snipping tool.
After making the picture, upload it to an online imagehopster and than just post the links to the pictures here.

If you want to use non game Pictures on Steam you need to upload them as artworks, but just go the first mentioned way it works easier.

I maybe had this in the past to for some reason, the dragon symbol exe got deleted by something unknown for me.
Just copy past dragon symbol exe from fresh project into your other project.
I hope its that. Atleast its missing in the Picture.

Seems to have worked, i can't create seperate folders to organize projects but at least i can continue working on them now..

You click on New Game in the Editor than it creates a new Project Folder,
make sure not Saving it into C Documents or one of the C folders atleast, for some reason some users have trouble with safing/writing in there.
Select a Project path on a different drive like D or E or whatever it is called on your pc.
