Help! Getting an error RTP not installed!
We've been getting this issue in multiple languages lately which I actually find quite impressive, however to save some time for anyone having this issue I will pin the solution here.

This error occurs because it seemed like somehow the RTP got kicked out of the Steam download or something. Honestly, I'm not 100% sure. In any case it's as easy a fix as installing the RTP from elsewhere. The web link for the RTP is located at http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/download/additional/run-time-packages. Simply select "AGREE AND DOWNLOAD THE RPG MAKER VX ACE RTP" at the bottom of the page, then install the file that and you're good to go.

If there are any further questions feel free to post them here.

Any reason Steam would do that? O.o

(I am not sure again that the RTP is supposed to be the file that tell where to get the assets from RPGM. My memory seems to play me tricks)

It could be that for some reason an update caused new installs of the program to no longer install the RTP while older installs remain unaffected. Since I have the RTP installed from the web based program I never had a problem like this.

Hope the new free DLC don't fall into that crack somehow. Thanks!

I've downloaded the RTP and it still doesn't register in the program. I had a hard drive crash recently, but luckily my file backup saved my game. I've re-installed RPG maker vx Ace, and also tried installing the RTP file first, but still, only my custom files seem to register in game. All RTP information comes up blank. Any suggestions?

Open Steam client, verify integrity of program cache and try to run RPG Maker through Steam Client (do not click on a shortcut or exe file).

Hi,

I can rerport while downloading steam went offline mode for few seconds and I encountered this error.

Just did that. All files validated. Still not working. It appears that starting a new game reads the RTP. It's only my saved progress from my crashed hard drive that doesn't read. Also all other games and demo's that I had on my other hard drive are not reading RTP properly.

I Had this probleme when:
1. The program and the RTP was installed in different folders (I reinstalled the program in another folder, but the RTP remains of old folder) - just bring your RTP to the desired folder.
2. When The RTP is not in project - just copy the RTP in project.

SOLUTION: It is only missing a registry entry.

1. Right-click on your desktop and hit New - Text Document.
2. Name the file "Fix.reg", confirm the extension change.
3. Right-click on Fix.reg and click Edit to open it with Notepad.
4. Copy-paste these seven lines into the file in Notepad:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Enterbrain\RGSS3\RTP]
"RPGVXAce"="C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\SteamApps\\common\\RPGVXAce\\rtp"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Enterbrain\RGSS3\RTP]
"RPGVXAce"="C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\SteamApps\\common\\RPGVXAce\\rtp"

5. Replace the paths specified with the actual path to your RPGVXAce\rtp directory (note the double-backslashes), save the file and close Notepad.
6. Double-click Fix.reg on your desktop and click Yes, then OK.
7. Delete Fix.reg

You're welcome. ;-)

Tried that Templarien, but it's still not working. I've gone into REGEDIT and checked the new key is there as well and even tried a reboot, but it's not working still. Also validated the directory. No joy..

What OS are you running? Cause I came up with this solution after having RTP problems on my old WinXP system, so it may be different for 7 or 8.

EDIT: Also, make sure you have the \\rtp at the end of the path. I guess I wasn't quite clear on that.

To clairify that something what I believe really happened is that at some point the steam install reverted the part of the program that checks the location of the RTP as it definitly still installs it inside the Steam folder. I may be wrong of course.

I tested your method on a new Win 8.1 and it did not work for me. It may only be something that would work unadjusted on XP.
