"RTP not installed error"

A couple of weeks ago or so, I got the RPG Maker VX Ace package complete with all DLC. I started working right away on a full little title, then stopped. I hadn't hopped back into it until today, at which point I get an error saying RTP not installed. I tried again and got it again. I verified the integrity, still the same error.

So I uninstalled and reinstalled, thinking maybe something got borked. Nope, still the same error. What gives? Everything looks like it's properly installed in the Steam directory, but it keeps throwing the same error. Any ideas?

Well, I was able to resolve it by reinstalling the RTP, but from a different site. I don't get it because it's automatically included in the package when you install it from Steam, but hey, it's working. Problem solved I guess.

Try downloading and installing the RTP for VxAce from here:
http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/download/additional/run-time-packages

I've seen some people posting about the same problem before. I think it had something to do with if you try to install VxAce on a different hard-drive other than the default c: hard drive or some other strangeness? Anyways, hopefully if you install that RTP as mentioned above it should work.

SOLUTION: It is only missing a registry entry.

1. Right-click on your desktop and hit New - Text Document.
2. Name the file "Fix.reg", confirm the extension change.
3. Right-click on Fix.reg and click Edit to open it with Notepad.
4. Copy-paste these seven lines into the file in Notepad:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Enterbrain\RGSS3\RTP]
"RPGVXAce"="C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\SteamApps\\common\\RPGVXAce\\rtp"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Enterbrain\RGSS3\RTP]
"RPGVXAce"="C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\SteamApps\\common\\RPGVXAce\\rtp"

5. Replace the paths specified with the actual path to your RPGVXAce\rtp directory (note the double-backslashes), save the file and close Notepad.
6. Double-click Fix.reg on your desktop and click Yes, then OK.
7. Delete Fix.reg
