Layers?
Hello! At RPG Maker XP and VX we had layers (http://stighetl.com/pftp/FTP/Pictures/Layers.png ) Where do I find this in VX Ace? I depend on them now. I really need them. I couldn't find anything on the forum, nor in the help section at VX Ace. Could you please tell me where I can find them? Thanks!

You can't put layers in Ace like you could in previous versions. Now basically A is the layer 1 and B-E are layer 2 and that's it.

Hm... Do you then know where I can contact the owner of this product, or someone who owns it? (http://resources.rpgmakerweb.com/futuristic-tiles/ ) I am trying to make an exact city as in picture number 2, just to test the tileset. For some reason, I can't place the walls and roof of the garage in the middle of the picture, because it destroys the sidewalk, which is at the same tileset page (A)

It's so frustrating!
Anyway, thank you very much for your help! :)

This guide might help. You can use the shift-key/paste to prevent the auto-tiling from messing up your maps. :)

If you need a second Layer go to the event tab and add an event just with the graphics.
Helps with most problems.
If this still isnt enough you can add an picture above your map with the graphics you need.
(Its even possible to work with pictures only, which is called parallax mapping.)

RMVXA comes with three layers, but not determined by the player. The first layer, the ground layer, is placed via the "A" Tab. I forget exactly, but I know that in "A1", the left half is layer 1, and the right half is layer 2, something like that.

Layer 3 is then B,C,D,E. Then you could go as far as a 4th layer with events.. And then unlimited detail via custom parallax. I seen someone make a four layer parallax script, where they had one on the ground and go up from there.

Both VX and VX Ace had compounded layers. VX had two layers(autotile/regular tile bottom layer, and then regular tile top layer) and Ace has 3(two auto-tile bottom layers and a regular tile top layer)
In Ace, like in VX, when copying a particular tile, it disregards the layer and copies all three layers of tiles. You have to manually select the tile to work with a single layer, and painting at a lower layer destroys upper layers.

I kind of wish they added some extra layer control for upper layers. Let people shift-click multiple layers to edit them together or something. RPG Maker XP had the worst default tiles, but the best default map editing.

Thank you very much everyone!
And thank you very much for the usefull information Levi! I have used RPG maker since VX was released (Not Ace, just VX) and I did not know about this function before now! Wow! Thank you so much!

5pam, I can try the one with the pictures, but that sounds really hard, so think I will wait a little bit, hehe.

But I have some other problems now. It looks like tab D and E is at the same layer. I tried to place a table I found in tab D, and then place some stuff found in tab E, but that didn't work. The table disappeared. I didn't thought it was going to be like that, or ...?

As I mentioned in my post, B-E are all the same layer. You could use an event to place an item on top of a tile, or move that table to a tile in layer A, Layer A has 2 layers.

Oh! My bad! I saw you wrote it, but I forgot it when I was going to reply. Sorry!
