Stand alone .exe?
I'm not sure if anyone had already made a post about this or not but I've searched for hours, I'm curious about whether or not you can make your finished game JUST a .exe? So if I were to send it to someone or put it online, there would just be the game .exe, and not all of the resource folders?

Yes. But that exe after being downloaded by someone will be extracted to spearate files, with the game.exe being the file to be executed. ;)

It is a self extract executable. And you should add the RTP so it could be a stand alone exe playable in any system

For example, if I were to send my game to my friend via Email, I want it to either be JUST a .exe file, that has all the game files in it, OR if I can't do that, could I put all the resource files (Data, Graphics, System, etc.) into a '{Game Name}_Data' folder and have the game run?

When you're ready to package your game, from the File options choose "Compress Game Data". You can check the options to Encrypt it as well as Include RTP Data. After it's finished making the package, it will be a self-extracting .exe file that you can share as you like.

There may be other ways to go about it, but that's probably the easiest way to package and then share your game.

Keep in mind that if you upload it someplace, or try to send through an email, that a lot of anti-virus programs, file-sharing sites and email providers don't like ".exe" files for uploading or downloading (they tend to "assume" that it could be a virus). In this case, you could compress the file as something like .zip format.

It works. I zip them myself and it usually pass both my mail service scan and the receiving hand scan as well. ^^

Yes its possible to make standalone game without rtp and without including it and without the player loading any rtp previous.

Aside from using the built in method of exporting a self compressed .exe, I happend to come accross this posting which may be of some help (Hopefully).

Read the comments under it tho. Even if useful, I just hope he finds a clean link back to his method. I mean using some windows program, I guess we're not supposed to get it to set an alarm after it. ;)

Since you want to maybe Email the game to a friend.
Putting the content in a Zip folder is your best option i guess, I always email zipped folders it works well.
