If you make a DBZ game they may come after you for copyright. If you make any money on it they will come after you. I'm just Saiyan.
It makes no difference.
What the law says is that stealing is stealing.
You might steal a car and not sell or rent it to someone.
You still have stolen it.
Now when it comes to royalties, things become debatable and philosophical.
I will not start such a debate here, on if a law is right or wrong.
I just inform you that laws say don't do it.
People get confused easily on this.
"Oh I will make a fangame, will not sell it, so that's ok"
This is 100% wrong. This is something some random people on the internet said, and people were mislead to such bullcrap.
"ALL RIGHTS RESERVED" is not confusing. ALL the rights are RESERVED. You can do NOTHING with it, without permission. I assume you have no permission written and signed by the comapny so I can stop this argument right here.
umm what argument?
and seriusly dude lay off the caffeine ,way too high octane of a responce there ( just IMO)
it is not against the law to make a fan game, it is however against the law to claim anyhting to do wityhthat fan game other than the story and or uniqe characters/items/ect/ect that you make specifically for that fan game, it is also illegal to try to sell saidfan games for money, it is not illegal how ever top draw sprite that resemble/are the character from said franchise heck on most RM sites , as long as its legit drawn pixel art ,and not c/p into a sprite frame work, you can find sprites for most major franchises , everything from avengers to spider man , batman, ive even seen some DBZ sprites, buyt they were for for vx , and i dont know if they would work, there have even been harry potter sprites done. In short ( or ratherlong) making a fan game is not wrong nor is it illegal, but tring to claim credit where it isnt due, and or making money from said game is illegal.

Sooooo... Collect your e-mails, save the answers safely in case of a YES! And credit and thanks with pride and affection the original makers if they say yes.
Ack... now I remember to make one RPGMaker game I have in mind I have to secure the rights of both Tiesto and Jeff Lynn from Electric Light Orchestra. >.< Long story...just musical references in scifi...
If you are sure about it go on, I have no beef.
Actually I don't care if you get in trouble really, you are not me and I didn't participated on your actions or decisions in any way. I just tried to be somewhat really helpful and not misleading as most of the internet is. Are you 100% sure about what you are saying here?
Yes drawing Batman for example makes it your scetch, ok.
But using that scetch of Batman in a game, means you use a copyrighted trademark into a creation of yours. Things are a little blurry, but that's what All rights reserved means. It means "hands off you bad boy". Nobody gave you permission to do that. Giving credit makes no difference in this case.
Is it right? Maybe yes, maybe no.
Another fact though is that THESE guys have a point.

Sorry if the word "argument" sounded strange the way I used it, English is not my native, I meant I express an opinion on a topic, having done some serious research (I was also interested on your question in the past). Unfortunately, using assets for a "fan game" is not allowed, except if a company gives permission for that.
I know it sucks. But that is what I learned by asking LAWYERS. Because I am not a lawyer.
I never said to ,nor did i intened to give the ideal , that it was ok ,to use the games actual resourses ie sprites/backgrounds/ect/ect. I did say and still do say that the only way you are going to get into any type of trouble for making a fan game using what ever universe you care to use, is if you:
1) try to claim the whole thing as your own.
2) try to make money off of it.
again like i have said i have made a couple of fan games , including ones from the pokemon universe, batman universe,My little pony ( dont ask ,it was for a friend ) ,and i was working on a medabot one in unity , till the team feel apart due to creative diffrances ( read that as the main guy gave up )a unity Zelda project(on hiatus while two of our team recover from there first baby), and i am currently working on a medabot fan game in RM, and in Alice i am builiding a recreation/fan game of the old retro space shooters, also i am talking with a few friends of mine about making a unity version fan game ofthe old animated show Reboot. Yeah I am fairly certian about what i say.
Funny thing about lawyers , for everyone you find to say one thing you can find another that will say something diffrent and contradictory about hte same topic .It may be the law, but its a law that is overlooked, please if you or anyone else can link me to any fan game that didnt violate either number 1 or 2,and used there own resources , that got shut down? Cause as far as i know it has not happened.Ifi ts a good game, the company will most likly overlook it becasue it spreads there products name, if its a bad game it will die out before nyone knows about it.
By the way thanks for the link that pack looks great, and at some point i may actually download it and seewhat all is in it.
4) do something with it that casts their IP in a unfavourable light while they are concerned about dropping IP value. A Son Goku Columbine Simulator might be frowned upon, even if you don't make money off it
