Not possible. There's a DLL file that allows you to increase resolution but it's abandoned in beta phase so there are bugs. Wouldn't recommend using that.

If you want high resolutions you'll have to buy RPG Maker MV which should be released sometime this month.

that's dumb... i hate how companies stop supporting/updating their product and say... hey we just made a new one, buy that instead

Nope it doesnt.
You can ask the rpgmaker web staff for the high resolution dll, they said because it took much performance reserves, thatthey dont make a public release of that script, but that some chosen ones can get it from main side staff, dont have a link to the thread where it was said, but that is your best chance to get a non virus high res dll.

didnt tried to get one myself from them, so i cant tell if they give it to anybody or just to befriended developers.

I can give you the download link for it, but I really would suggest not to bother with it because of all the bugs and issues (which will never be fixed).

In the event that you want to use the Dll and it happens to be too bad on performance I'd suggest using Effectus[rpgmakersource.com]. It's $20 however, but it's amazing at reducing event or map based lag. Infact if you plan on doing your map solely on Parralax mapping then they have a special script that you can put in with the rest of Effectus (it comes with it and is only seperate for convenice) that will really clear up some memory usage. An alternative if you plan to not spend more money is Theo's Insane Anti-Lag Script[forums.rpgmakerweb.com].

The Dll does have bugs however and you will not recieve support if it gives issues.

i use mog anti-lag and have no problem the the screensize i am usting 864x486
i tried higher but have choosen to go with this size not only becease of the preformans
but give the game a more realisic view becease in HD i saw the hole city on my screen
wile in real live nobody see that far

so keep in mind how the game wil look like wen you wanna go HD
preformens wil go down
most scripts are not build to go wide screen so you need to resize them 2 (if using them)
small mapss cant be use any more you need to go bigger and use more black tiles or like that
art work you wanna use will have a new x and y assis
