RPG Maker VX Ace cannot open/edit rvdata2 files?
I saw few sites recommending this program to open this type of file, but when I try nothing happens.

Does this rpg maker does not support rvdata2 files? Was the information I saw false?

:) Oh I can think of reasons why you can't open that file type in the ACE Editor, for example if you were to try opening my steam games data files from Gears of Phantasm, it's called encryption, but surely you won't be attempting that.

Or perhaps the file is corrupted, but the fact that you have to ask the question makes me wonder... Should you be opening files that you didn't compile yourself.

This is a game creation engine it doesn't open up rvdata2.files, it loads the data on the file into the editor, a map.rvdata2.file will show all the event/map data from a game, same for scripts.rvdata2 shows scripts used within the game & then you have your data base files...

Placing any of these into the data folder loads up all the information saved onto the file.
