Windows 10 Fatal Error
Hey,

So I recently "upgraded" to Win10 and when I run this game I get a weird fatal error that I've never seen before. Unfortunately I don't know enough about how these games work to interpret the output. Here's hoping someone can help. Here's a screenshot.

Anyway, I've tried compatibility mode, reinstalling, restarting, etc ... all the basics. Even updated some codecs, but no dice.

Thanks in advance!

Im trying to find this post for this...
I think you need to uninstall and reinstall XNA.
But there was someone that fixed this for windows 10.

my win10 laptop that was clean installed runs SD without issue so its not a compatibility problem. Its some kind of upgrade issue.

Thanks man! Can't believe you still answer posts for SD1, I assumed this game was dead by now.

Anyway yea, I actually tried XNA with no luck. However, I got it working just a little while ago by using win7 compatibility and running as admin together. If you ever come up with an idea on how to get it to work without running as admin I'd love to hear it, but at least the game is playable again...

hell dude im still modding sd1 via blackbox. check it out if you havent.
in fact including myself there are 3 people working on the code for blackbox and 3 or 4 people actively helping the testing of it.

last update was on the 9th i believe. more coming.

glad you got it working and sharing your fix.

This is likely something to do with the permission changes to win10. SD tries to write to your user directories which it should be perfectly able to do but there may be some security settings preventing it.

or antivirus preventing it.

for instance on my win10 laptop it just works so i imagine its not exactly win10 and sd compatibility issues.
ill try it again on my laptop maybe it was in win8 mode when i tried it.
if i can spot the issue ill try and fix it but its low on the scale.

meanwhile this post will help others im sure.
