Blackbox Venus is Released!
After 1.5 years of development, give or take, Venus is ready for Release.

Just relaunched the game this morning (BB + CA mods), it runs like a charm, and damn I had totally forgotten how beautifull & charming the game was at the time, and still is!

Thanks to you, I will probably relaunch a big campaign soon, thanks a lot guys!

PS: I have seen that you have added a new race of your own inspiration, but no trace of the new one introduced in SD2 (the homarid one), you did not like it? Or maybe it was not so easy to copy/paste in SD1 code/files structure?

Regarding Dauntless. Combined Arms inherited the Dauntless from the old Combomod. Our Art guy added a new Dauntless portrait and video animation.
As for SD2, the bests parts of it is that it is using a more updated graphic engine and it is 64bit. All the rest is inferior to SD1 imho.
So generally, we do not do SD2. :)

AI Federation is wonky and ruins the game for me. Every game I start at some point I get a cascade of "peaceful confederations" at 1120 or so. This is jarring as in my current came the "primary confederater" is the Rayleigh, which should be constitutionally unable to ever confederate...

TLDR: AI Federation happens too often and cascades

There is an option to disable AI federations so they would not unite against you. Check the Rule options.

However, note that AI empires which have long standing alliances for most of the game MAY federate regardless. But when you disable the federations, it means the AI will not abandon their issues and unite against you.
They are still allowed to federate if they are good friends for a long, long time.

Small question, is there a way to have fleet defend or intercept system threat like in distant universe ? thx
It seems complicated to manually select each target.

Currently, a ship will attack any enemy within it's sensor range. If it is part of the fleet, the whole fleet would move to attack.

Oh, nice i need to improve my sensor range, do you confirm that medium or large freighter can be equiped with guns ? I try to make an heavy defended freighter but it don t seem to defend itself ? Thx

I believe some of our testers created armed freighters for pirate defense. You can talk to them on our Discord
