This game causes my whole pc to crash
PC:
OS Windows 10
Processor AMD Ryzen 9 7950X 16-Core Processor 4.50 GHz
GPU AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
Installed RAM 64,0 GB (63,1 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

randomly while playing (iirc once at ~ 7 and once around 26 minutes) my whole pc "freezes" with the same glitched audio that i get when the pc gets a (very rare) bluescreen and after a few seconds the pc restarts which leads me to believe that this game causes an actual bluescreen that isnt shown. I have driver timeout issues with some other games, but this game kills the pc instead of getting a driver timeout...

Are there any log files i could locate and post to help fix this issue? I like this game and would like to continue playing it...

I’m really sorry about this! We’ll investigate your log to see if we can find the issue, but based on what you’ve said, this might be a driver thing. Do you have all of your drives up do date?

To access the save files folder, go to your AppData directory, then LocalLow -> Gamecraft Studios -> Vampire Hunters.
To access the AppData directory, simply type %appdata% on the top of the File Explorer.

You can send the entire Vampire Hunters folder to our email: contact@gamecraftstudios.com

Cheers!

Hi,

thanks for the quick reply! Didn't expect that on the weekend :D

I am not sure if multiple games are on the log and since the last crash i tried playing the game but quit early in the match (~2 min)... I am now trying to reproduce the error.

As stated in the op i am having driver issues with that damn card but thought that the crashes might be a separate issue so i posted here.

Since the last crash I tried a clean driver install with cleanup utility in safe mode + ddu and installing the drivers with the option drivers only instead of the full install of the Adrenalin Software version 24.6.1 (newest as far as i know). Edit: And updated the vbios (with the default not the extreme version) for the gpu (GPU in question: https://www.asrock.com/Graphics-Card/AMD/Radeon%20RX%207900%20XTX%20AQUA%2024GB%20OC/index.asp#BIOS)

Currently had 1 driver timeout happen will try to get a crash for the log in case that it is a separate issue.

Btw encountered a little bug ^^ i had the rat auto weapon and picked the mirror that deletes weapons and resets level... and the rat attack that was going around the fallen pillars in the first map was still there running on the same spot. Don't know if it still did damage, but was funny to see :)

update after around 1.5 hours of playing i only got 1 driver timeout so whatever i did to fix the issues with other games seemed to have affected the cause of the crashes too.
The thread can be closed if i get any issues in the future i will send it per mail.

have you tried running the "sfc /scannow" command in an elevated command prompt? there was a recent (last 4 ish days) windows 10 update that actually left us with corrupt files

Thanks for the info. Didn't know that windows updates fcked things up once again...

"sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them."

I hope this fixes at least some of my issues, will test later :steamhappy:

Have you checked your event log for things like thermal shutdown?

Windows Event viewer has no entries regarding the crash... and temps were never really an issue with my current system (first summer with no ac though XD should still not be an issue)

Update: seems like at least 1 ram stick has gone bad....
first time in 20 years that a hardware component has a defect so i never suspected it...

after replacing my ram the issues i had with other games are gone (mainly gpu driver timeouts and memory access violations (only one game) crashing the game). I only played this game for ~1 hour since then so not sure if it fixed the issue but i assume so since all the issues with other games are gone now.

Thanks for the help everyone
