Making History achievement best builds

So I happily fought my way through every other achievement, but am now stuck on the making history achievement. Last time I tried, I ended up in Draculas castle at around level 260, with Paladin, every upgrade maxed, going the Aquarius/Hand Catapult route with shield generators and cats.

.....and got absolutely swamped with bosses, to the point I sometimes wasn't even able to see anything on the screen. Towards the 25 minute mark, I just had explosions all around me and died.

Does anyone have a better build to get the achievement? Did I level up too much? A few pointers in the right direction will be very much appreciated, thanks in advance!

My go to for most achievements was scout or dracula with all snipers. werewolves are useful passives due to their blocking and imbue power. Get all the snipers to level 5 then you can usually banish them and focus on crit chance/damage upgrades and soul chance. Get the magical bouncing ammo if you can. Once you have that going, bosses melt instantly and with enough ricochets you barely have to aim.
Another good one for hercules runs is all proton busters since they will kill the ghost at the end of each level, so you don't have to bother with the final goal and you get tons of extra score. That's usually how people get the billion+ high scores on Brotherhood Chateau, because the score from the whole hercules run gets registered as one total score on the level you started on.

Thanks a lot mate! I guess this is in conjunction with the constellation that gives you extra damage on weak spot hits (eg all hits with lvl 5 snipers)?

Will certainly try this approach now. I already tried quite a successful sniper run, but I'm a kinda creature of habit, so I love my hand catapults in survivor mode as much as I love my missiles in classic mode.😅

Addendum: I LIKE the sniper strat! Of course, me being me, I royally screwed up my run by taking the multiverse mirror after banishing sniper rifles, so I only had a single sniper for the last three levels.

But I still made it to a comfy scout level 768 and the final dracula fight! Now let's try again without screwing up.

Edit: Just tried it with snipers, scout, banish at lvl5 and a focus on damage uogrades. Everything went well until dracula, who I got to about 50%.

Then he absolutely bodied me. I dunno if it's a damage debuff, but I got absolutely drained of my 4k HP. Maybe I'll try another build, and just gotta git gud.

Im having issues with dracula at the end too. I'm taking no damage for last 3 levels, enemies instadying, then dracula is one-shotting me something like 5000hp (three shot with the revives). What is going on? Its liek 2 to 3 hours to get to him and ive got to him 5 times now. Not sure I have it in me to do it again without knowing whats going on

Make sure you haven't taken the cursed coin relic, and keep your distance from Drac. His lightning ball wall attack can take you out completely if you're too close. Stay at mid range.

Out of curiosity of whether things have changed since I got the achievement, I went back and did a Hercules run using Dracula with proton busters and picking the Mirror as my starting unique relic. I used Horologium, Aquarius, and the one that takes the shields away from the big guys.
Overall the run was very boring until the actual fight with Dracula. Still, it was more tedious than difficult, just keeping at a middle distance and just holding the trigger down. I had three levels of ricochet going, so I didn't even need to directly aim at him to do damage and I could just focus on dodging attacks. After a few minutes it was over, with my werewolves actually getting the final hit on him (they kill bosses with low health instantly).
Unfortunately the huge score bonus from killing the ghosts during Hercules runs was nerfed, so the total score was something like 28 million instead of over a billion, but I wasn't really going for score (hence taking the anti-shield option)
The dracula fight is tricky since he has a lot more attacks than the other bosses, and the clones are sometimes hard for me to identify when things are chaotic. That's when it helps to have ricochets on your weapons, because they will slowly chip away as long as you're in the vicinity. Using the dracula character is helpful because of the long gliding jump that is good for keeping distance by jumping between the platforms.

lol well at least you got me to finally read the artifacts description to the end......

I might very well have taken the coin at some time in the run. For the rest, also thanks a lot @Vandabo, I will try again with the Proton Packs. Having 100%ed Borderlands 2, I'm used to a boss being a bullet sponge. But the juxtaposition of how easily got to Dracula against how little his clones life drained made me question if I had forgotten something - because it felt like a no effort deathblow of 6000+ damage against a quite easy way there.
