L-Tek not fully working on Steam Deck
Hi there, I managed to get basic controls working for the game with my Steam Deck, so I am able to use the Deck's button controls to navigate menus. However when I have plugged in my L-Tek dance pad, there seems to be some odd controller profile that is overwriting what the L-Tek's button mappings are supposed to be. I am able to bind Left, Right, and Down arrows via the L-Tek's arrow pads, but the up arrow doesn't register as anything in-game to bind. I am guessing I need to customize the L-Tek's controller layout via Steam/the Steam Deck interface, Any suggestions on what I can do to get it to work, or if there is anything I can import from my Deck's install of Linux Stepmania 5.1 (which is able to detect the L-Tek automatically)? Thank you!

delete keymaps.ini in the /save folder as it has the 'joy' settings for the deck itself. I posted about this in the news as well, as you can just simply override what steam does by using the endpoint for /event over /js in the preferences.ini, it's in the last news release.

Hope this helps

Hi, thanks for the response!

I have tried all of the steps including deleting keymaps.ini and also following what was addressed in the news update (changing the value to 'InputSetLinuxJSEndpoint=0) and nothing has worked. For some reason I am just not able to get the game to register the up arrow on my L-Tek at all. I tried disabling Steam inputs for the L-Tek and relying on the native gamepad support. I switched back over to StepMania 5.1 and it is still registering the up arrow, so the pad still works.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do to change any settings or provide more info. Thanks again, really appreciate it!

pop into the discord so we can help you troubleshoot further. it's odd that your pad isn't working when others have working solutions, you may need to enable 'InputSetRAWAPI=1' and disable 'InputSetDInput=1' only thing i can think of off the top of my head it may be. Steam did a few updates to the OS, so we need to work out what changed lol

Had this exact issue on my l-tek's up arrow when binding buttons on my deck, though im using the alpha outfox rather than the playtest version. Gonna try this out. Thanks for the info!

it was a change we didn't pick up on, but will be sorted for the next release for sure.

Sorry, after I followed all the steps in this thread, the most recent update seems to have broken the fixes, so I can’t use Outfox now. I’ve tried to redo the fixes and they don’t seem to work; I haven’t had the time to troubleshoot so I just went back to stepmania again :(

you can just ask in the discord, it takes actually less time to fix than reinstalling stepmania, not sure why you didn't pop in and ask us, over reinstalling a game.

I never uninstalled Stepmania so truthfully it took no time at all to switch back to that instead... Switching back and forth between desktop mode and SteamOS mode to diagnose problems (as I did following the suggestions to fix the issue before) can be really time consuming, that's why I didn't do so. Thank you though, I may check in on the Discord again later.

I'm also having this problem with my LTEK. I tried all the fixes posted and nothing works. In fact, they made all the buttons stop working. I don't know what to do at this point.

we're looking into the updates that broke the inputs, and will be pushing a fix really soon

I also had the same issue on 0.5.0-pre041. These settings seemed to work:
InputSetDInput=1
InputSetRAWAPI=0
InputSetXInput=1

Setting RAWAPI to 1 seemed to completely disable the LTEK
