Zero Response on Start-up

I downloaded the game yesterday, and it took me about 15 minutes of messing with secondary installers and windows updates to get CC to run for the first time. Now the same problem is happening again when I try to start the game. Upon double clicking the desktop icon, pressing play via steam, or running the program itself from the folder, all I get is a second of the Windows 7 loading cursor (blue circle) and nothing will happen, black screen or otherwise. Got this during the sale just now and I am starting to worry about the usability of the game. Detected no problems by verifying files, diagnosing program via windows, and just about everything else the support page listed.

Haven't seen this anyhere, so can anyone offer some advice before i take it to support?
