Enemies that are out of sight not attacking?
I'm not sure if this is correct, but I've noticed several times that when you're fighting one enemie while having the camera turned away from another... the other one will not attack you. This especially noticeble with the big fat guys.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is it a bug, or am I seeing things? I caught myself abusing this several times.

Yeah, I've noticed this. As long as I don't face them then I can get my hits in uninterrupted. Sometimes when I look back they'll just be wandering aimlessly, allowing me to pick off others.

You are correct, it's action game design 101, getting hit by things you can't see is not fun. Most games hide this really well DmC, on the other hand, does it really clumsily. It creates al kinds of bugs. The way the AI works is that it will try to walk on screen before it attacks, try this on a ripper, he will literally walk right up to your back before attacking.

Good, I'm not crazy then :)

I do think it's an issue and hope it's a bug. It does dumb things down a bit.

Pretty much all games do this, problem is the camera in DmC is really zoomed in and the AI is really stupid, it will look at walls for no reason so if you spin the camera when it's looking at the wall it will get stuck there.

Note that some enemies that have started their attack animation will continue to attack from blindspot if you turn the camera away from them. But if you recognize their voice or the sound of their attack you should be able to dodge them without seeing them :D

This is deliberate, so use it to your advantage, the advanced enemies don't let you do this as much as the weak ones. Dreamrunners will teleport in your line of sight as do witches.

Still, it feels kind of cheap :( but it does happen often without being able to help it. Oh well...

Did the other DMC games have this as well? I can't recall...

Yes all DMC game has this feature. I remember setting my resolution away from its native widescreen into 4:3 ratio to have less enemies on my screen in DMC4 xD

You can actually stop enemies from spawning by not looking at them as well, good for soloing them out. Also if you can kill all the enemies to activate a trigger without spawning them all, you can skip them. But they might respawn in the next room. The start of Level 17 can leave you fighting 2 witches and 2 dream runners at the same time if your unlucky with this.

This is actually really frightening, enemies only attack you when looking directly at them.
slenderman logic in a devil may cry game. *shudders*

DMC4 also had this behaviour, so it's not like it's new. (can't remember if 3 had controllable camera or not but if it did I'm sure they programmed the enemies to not start attacking while off camera there too.
