Her story is even interesting, she got attacked, escaped into limbo, vergil found her, next thing you know she's the sole reason dante and vergil are able to kill mundus.
And she's just a plastic smily face!!!!

Good point, she seems to make no expression when she first meet naked Dante with his penis dangling in front of her face. Normal girl would get excited or disgusted xD

As I recall by attacked it was implied that she was raped by the demon. When it was happening she went into shock to block it out and that is how she had her "out of body experiences" that she cannot control. I feel like her being abused probably accounted for a lot of her dissonance throughout.

She is not useless at all. Its just she is a human and can't really do anything besides use her intelligence which she did to help beat mundus. What u expect her to do? Fight demons? Btw if it weren't for her vergil would have been dead now.

I agree with Wiggles about her history of abuse being the reason for her behavior. I also agree that it's disappointing that she didn't have much presence in the game, seeing as she's an integral part of the story. Maybe we're supposed to use this as a way to relate with Vergil's perspective that she's just a "useful tool"? I dunno.

In any case, she's as much likeable as Lady was in DMC3 (imo) and way better than nonexistent Kyrie.

Edit: when I say "as much likeable as Lady", I mean that I very, very much liked Lady.

The way I look at it, even though she is helping the resistance she is still human and the demons reigning over still has an effect on her. NT clearly made a point to make the real world looked washed out and depressing, and I'm sure that has an effect on humans. Between the baggage she carries and the demons trying to keep humans apathetic, I actually think Kat is quite the strong character for taking a stand. In the *Spoiler* last mission of the game when all the color comes back she is a much more interesting character and she shows a bigger range of emotions than she does all game. So I don’t think she is poorly written, quite the opposite, I think NT did a good job of writing a believable yet interesting human character in the world they created. Though I could just be connecting dots trying to make Shakespeare out of average writing.
