how long is the average playtime to finish this game?

Took me 6 hours. Even though the game was short, I really enjoyed the story/gameplay and have started playing on the unlocked difficulties

6 hours is a speed run. Most people get 10 -12 hours. Personally I like to take my time and replay sections, I'm not half way yet and have 8 hours.

Keep in mind the replayability factor and the secret rooms.

It really depends what difficulty you start out with. I started on Devil Hunter and I'm at around 6-7hrs on chapter 13, there is 20 chapters total. Lots of stuff hidden away to find too and the bonus missions, its got good replay valve if your looking for that.

Of course, the actual story and stages are hardly all there is too a DMC game,
you'll be coming back for the combat.
Unfortunately, Bloody Palace isn't out yet, which I still return to now and again with DMC3.

It took me around 7-8 hrs but the game is pretty much built around you going back for atleast a second playthroughs as new hidden areas open up with the powers you recieve from the first playthrough.

Took me 8 hours the first run on Nephilim difficulty which including randomly looking about for anything hidden, but yeah, as Brionac said, this game was made for at least 2 playthroughs.
