Nope. Out of the people that actually own and played the game, the people who don't like it are a distinct minority. In fact I don't think I've seen a negative comment from a steam user that owned the game.

I love the game so far! I was never really a big DMC fan (although I did enjoy my time with DMC4), but this turned out to be incredibly fun. The combat, level design and "over the top" feel of it all are my definite highlights. Can't wait to play more!

I'm enjoying it, like I enjoyed dmc4

Absolutely loved it. A little bit short, but I was very happy. Great start the new year.

I went in with the mindset that it wouldnt be DMC but Ninja Theory slapped me hard,
it is DMC in every way sure characters develop into close to their old selves along the story.

But onhoustly after DMC3 i didnt think there would ever be a better DMC but i actually like this one more o_O hope sales go well and we can continue the story with the next installment.

I've been enjoying it immensely! very accessible and the story is interesting. can't wait for Bloody Palace and Vergil's Downfall DLC!! :D

All of the crap talked about the game is bullsh*t. It is an awesome game with awesome combat and an awesome story. If you preordered the game you would've got the classic Dante from DMC 3 skin, so I have no complaints about how Dante looks =).

I saw a guide that told you how to be like "D0NT3," so that's one.
But yeah, this is the best DMC since DMC 3, and they honestly are locked in battle as to which one gets to take its rightful place as my opinion's favorite game. Seriously, I can hardly decide.
Also, I'm so glad that the Vergil campaign isn't actual Day 1 DLC. WIsh the costumes weren't either, but still makes me glad they're not succumbing to leaving out actual game content on release to be purchased while it is installed on disc.

No, you're not the only one who liked the game. We have a few people in the industry, some reviewers and publisher minions, who hate Ninja Theory with a vengeance. I haven't managed to really find out why these people do that (usually a short list of probable reasons, though) - but you have a couple of well-placed people who literally hate them and want to see them go bankrupt as a studio.

And they are somewhat outspoken about it. So after that you get people on particular places on the net picking up on this, who copy the opinion ("oh, yeah, anything Ninja Theory touches turns to manure") , because they think it makes it sound important and in the know.

Meanwhile, if your editor or co-workers despise the games they make on principle, you get the reviews, even from other writers, that approach the reviews as if it's completely surprising they don't blow. Other reviewers who haven't played their games would trust the general opinion, etc.

The sad thing is that this feedback loop actually has killed a few other studios with braindead publishers running them before. By having them decide the current direction they're going has no hope and appeal, etc., based on that narrow feedback. Also, it makes certain reviewer types feel that their opinions make or break a game (and a studio). With some right as well - the industry isn't very big... you can run into all the people you've read in game-magazines in one expo, basically.. So it's not that strange it keeps going. Specially with how many infinitely sad individuals working in gaming journalizm.

But outside of that, you're not the only one who enjoyed the game, no.

YES!!!
actually no, i loved it personally.
it's like being terrified of what might happen next, only to find out that you're playing as a slightly more intense dante.
In one of the best designed worlds
With one of the best combat engines.
While having to post a silent review on youtube to one of the most inanely butthurt fanbases in creation.
No pressure!!!
I'm gonna have to tell those losers the truth! and they won't want to hear it!
How in the heck did angry joe do this?!
I actually really love this game. I admit I didn't play much of the original series so this reboot is just fine with me. I like the characters, story, and gameplay.

Yes , the game is definetly not bad ,DMC fanboys still cry over the white hair and judge the entire game after that is just stupid and embarassing for "true"(I mean with true fans ,fans with a mind ) DMC fans like me .
But you all know that in the previous games always a second character ,even with a different combatsystem ,was unlockable ?
In DMC it was Dante ,Sparda ;DMC 3 Dante ,VErgil ;DMC 4 Nero,Dante .
So the game is never a 3/10 or 1/10 ,it has some of the most creatively level designs and boss battles i ve ever seen and even the gameplay is pretty good .
However just because the game is flashy ,doesn't mean it has no flaws .
Like not being able to lock on .?!? That was always a pretty crucial part of the previous ones .I could go on but i think for the time being i take a short break .
greetings
It's been a pretty enjoyable experience thus far, no DMC3 by any stretch, but it still feels like a Devil May Cry game. Even starting to warm up to the new Dante somewhat.
coldheartedgerman Jan 27, 2013 @ 4:44am
Yes you got my point .
If its still a true DMC is argueable cause i personally dont like the new Dante .
NOT BECAUSE THE BLACK HAIR !!
It just annonys me that Dante has to say : F°°° you in every third sentence .
Yeah , i know hes young ,cheekier ,rebellic and full of testosterone .
But one thing about the old Dante was imho that he didnt swear that much at all and still was a funny ,rude pervert .^-^
I just say : First I whip it out, then I thrust it, with great force. Every angle, it penetrates. Until, with great strength, I ram it in. In the end, we're all satisfied .

PS : Please bear in mind ,that this is just my personal opinion .Thank you
