they took out the styles
the game is way too easy
and the bosses suck thats why i dont like DmC
DmC was denounced before it was released and lot´s of peoples attached opinions of others easily before they make their own opinion. That´s one reason why it had a lesser sale and still got hated by so many.
(Others were bad marketing, no proper track of digital sales and (sadly) easy piracy. But it´s more off-topic)
You can find many similiar cases of gaming franchise: Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, X-COM
Everything was better in the past...
"old Hero/ine was better"
"old gameplay was better"
"new story is crap"
"new mechanic is easy"
"the new one has no soul"
Rebooting a franchise is risky but it´s a step further.
Old franchises have outdated mechanic, gameplay and design and the old fan-community is dying out. Why stick to the past?
They should continue DmC. There are many things better than the old one.
Specially camera....
Outdated game mechanics, yeah, screw the lock on, outdated as heck. Who the hell uses that, what's the point of that?
There is nothing outdated about old DMC, you can still pick it up and play it. Not only that but they do have a better camera with actual lock on fuction.
I doubt DmC is going to contiue, as the sells were poor. Old DMC games sold way better, DMC fans aren't really dying out.
Also new Tomb Raider actually sold well, Square Enix just putted too much money into it, TOO MUCH money. That's their fault.
Why do players stick to the old games, to the past as you say? Because they offer more challenge and don't restrict you (usually) as games today do.
Perfect example of this would be to look at two popular stealth franchsies, Splinter Cell and Hitman
Hitman Blood Money allowed you to kill the target in many ways, it was a sandbox
Absolution went for a more "cinematic" experience, linear gameplay. So much features were deleted to make everything simplier and added to make things easier
Splinter Cell Conviction ran away from its stealth genre entirely. It forced you to kill people, you couldn't hide enemies, so much features were deleted to make everything simplier.
See the pattern? Old franchises which are being streamlined are losing their complexity and challenge, sometimes even a thing that was special about them in a first place, DmC is also a good example of this, you don't have styles anymore, and you have way less combos when compared to DMC4. You take much less damage and the ranking system is much more forgiving. Getting SSS isn't satisfying anymore, as the game doesn't ask much from you.
Are you denying thouse things? Fans always have valid reasons as to why they have opinions as these. Especially when it comes to DmC.
I can pick up Turrican from C64 and it´s still playable as a 2D Shoot´em up.
DmC franchise won´t continued for now.
Ninja Theory dropped AAA development and Capcom will stick to a DMC5 for 2015.
So you will get your old Dante/Nero.
But will it succeed? No, definetly!
There will be many loyal fans who blindly buy it and defend it (regards of rating).
But it will not a success for Capcom, bcs console sales are terrible at japan, japanese modern games are terrible and most players, with buyin power, don´t hit for Manga-heroes.
The character is the opposite he's so modern I freak out. Big mouthed lil child I so hate him. I don't only hate him because I loved old Dante I would hate him even if I never knew any DMC. In what world is such a kid cool? Maybe I'm too old now and this Dante is cool for modern teenies I don't know. I only see some ♥♥♥♥♥ emo there.
I had chills when Dante was falling off the church in DmC4 and looked so badass THAT was cool!
Ok back to gameplay I think it's more or less okay. Missing lock on and the cam are the worst. I always need to adjust the camera manually which is not really fastening up the game. Sometimes it can be cool I like the two claws it's a bit like playing Nero.
This is me though I enjoy learning why. With so much understanding towards those who have been a fan for years of this series, it is hard when expectations are let down.
Getting used to a new fighting style, weapons, etc is difficult.
On the bright side it brings new people in to enjoy and see this game for once and like me will buy the others.
My heart does go out to you who are not able to enjoy this game. I can see the difference in the characters, weapons etc from DMC4 and DMC3.
This game has brought me into a new genre and for that I am happy.
Seeing both sides of the "coin" from other's viewpoint has helped me make my own decision on the series.
It shows the strenghts and weakenesses and am so thankful for the truthfulness of people that don't like the game. (Which I understand the reason) now that I have played one of the originals.
