Why is this game called Devil May Cry? (For Story Purposes)
For all of the people new to the DMC series, Devil May Cry was the name of Dantes shop in the original games, but why is this one called Devil May Cry when he doesn't have his shop?
The name just seems out of place. The theme about the original games was about human emotions and what made Dante diffrent from all of the other Demons. But since Dante is half Angel now, the name just losses its porpose and he doesn't even own his own business now.

And speaking of Angel, where are they all? Angels were not even in the original games and here they just feel like a plot point that feels so out of place. All you see are demons and the angels have nothing to do with the game other than Dante is an Angel now. All it did was just get rid of everything relatable to the character we all knew and loved.

The game may as have been called Angels&Demons should cry.

This game isn't even a reboot. For it to be a reboot, it needed to be necessary for DMC to be rebooted, which it wasn't, Nero was already fully capable of handling the continuation of DMC's story line, uncovering what happened to Vergil.

This game is just a senseless trashy cash-in made by a subpar studio that had no idea how to handle the extreme awesomeness of the true legacy that was Devil May Cry, so they crapped their pants in sheer terror.

What are you talking about ? " For it to be a reboot , it needed to be necessary for DMC to be rebooted " ? Not only it has absolutely nothing to do with the definition of a reboot which make this phrase totally nonsensical but moreover, since when you decide that a series need to be rebooted ? And more, since when you decide it at the place of the editor/developer ?

And I stopped the second paragraph at "senseless trashy cash-in". Your feelings has nothing to do with the DMC series to be rebooted. You can't accept it and you don't like the new story/design/characters doesn't mean you have the right to insult so easily someone else work. It's a reebot by definition, your ridiculous anger towards this game won't change that.

Nope. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

For it to be a reboot, the publisher has to *say* it's a reboot. That's it. They make the rules, not you. There is no "need" about it. Whatever Capcom says is official. Accept it, or you'll just continue to look like an idiot.

First - no, not really, it only needs the publishers' say-so on whether it's a reboot or not, second:, it WAS actually necessary because nobody liked Nero back in the day and Dante's story was written into a corner because they explored all the options they had of pretending DMC2 never existed.
"Uncovering what happpened to Vergil" - Wow, somebody seems to have never played the original game, because if you did, you'd know what happened to Vergil: he was captured by Mundus and transformed into a demon knight Nelo Angelo and died by Dante's hand.

Ah...I remember I discussed on a forum with a "DMC fan". Not only he was continuously talking about the characters new design he utterly didn't like but he didn't even know that on higher difficulties in the previous games, enemies could "devil trigger" like Dante/Vergil/Nero.

And they call themselves "fans". What a load of bulls**t.

yes the name of dante's place was devil may cry. but he got that name because of his own emotions. it wasn't just a catchy name. also far as i recall the previous games never specified dante was half human. just that he was half demon

also if you knew your theology you'd know high level demons.. sparda, mundus, lucifer. were all angels who were cast out because reasons. every major demon has angelic roots. its why sparda wasn't a total ♥♥♥♥ monger like other demons.

Of course it was said he was half human, In the first devil may cry game it was mentioned his mother was human, and that his mother looked like trish.
