Many people don't know Devil May Cry was supposed to be Resident Evil 4.
Finally learned that many people actually have no idea that Devil May Cry 1, was originally made to become Resident Evil 4. But because of the gameplay, they made it into a separate game, all on its own.

This is why Capcom made this "reboot" of DMC. A "What if" Devil May Cry was an original game.

Here is an excerpt from Wikipedia and other websites. Also, I uploaded the beginning of DMC Chapter 2. That dialogue clip is being hidden by Youtube, Tiktok and other social media platforms. I received warnings that the video will be hidden due to the dialogue.

Kat: " The demons are amongst us Dante, they are enslaving mankind. The world is asleep, brainwashed and helpless. We're fighting back." (You can check the clip in my Youtube or just play the beginning of Chapter 2.)

It is making me wonder...if the hate for this game is also because of the story. Because the story of DMC is showing that behind all the pretty things in their world, it's actually all made by demons. Like that drink that was supposed to make you healthy, in Limbo, it makes you obese/fat.

Excerpt/explanation of how Devil May Cry 1 was made. Now that I think more about it, Dante does look a little bit like Leon S. Kennedy. Just a bit.

"First hinted at in early December 1999, Devil May Cry started out as the earliest incarnation of Resident Evil 4. Initially developed for the PlayStation 2, the game was directed by Hideki Kamiya after producer Shinji Mikami requested him to create a new entry in the Resident Evil series. Around the turn of the millennium regular series writer Noboru Sugimura created a scenario for the title, based on Kamiya's idea to make a very cool and stylized action-adventure game.

The story was based on unraveling the mystery surrounding the body of protagonist Tony, an invincible man with skills and an intellect exceeding that of normal people, his superhuman abilities explained with biotechnology. As Kamiya felt the playable character did not look brave and heroic enough in battles from a fixed angle, he decided to drop the prerendered backgrounds from previous Resident Evil installments and instead opted for a dynamic camera system. This new direction required the team to make a trip to Europe where they spent eleven days in the United Kingdom and Spain photographing things like Gothic statues, bricks, and stone pavements for use in textures.

Though the developers tried to make the "coolness" theme fit into the world of Resident Evil, Mikami felt it strayed too far from the series' survival horror roots and gradually convinced all of the staff members to make the game independent from it."
