Game crashes on startup every time

I played this game for about an hour or so several months ago with no problems, now it doesn't work at all. When I try to launch screen goes black for a second and then I get dmc-devilmaycry.exe has stopped working. Somehow it automatically copies an error log to my clipboard which says

Fatal error!

Not using a controller, all my drivers are up to date. I tried doing a reinstall with no luck. Any ideas?

Yeah me too has steam gotten on this yet? I played it once but now it no longer works

I had this happen and used the compatability mode for Windows 7 I do believe. After validate files. It has played well ever since. I hope this helps. I didn't get the errors, but the crashing I did get.

try to update directx from game directory \steamapps\common\DmC Devil May Cry\directx_Jun2010_redist

So far mine hasn't had this problem. Next time you reinstall you might try installing to a different hard drive if you have one handy, though.

As obtuse as this may sound try to reinstal again and make sure your running in comp mode if your useing windows 10.Windows 10 is a little ...unstable currently.

WOW, after 2 years I FINALLY got this fixed! I just replaced the dinput8.dll file in my DMC install folder with a copy of dinput8.dll from my GTA V install, and now it works fine. None of the other solutions I found online ever worked for me. I assume you could copy the file from other games as well.

Hopefully if anyone is still trying to get this game working, this will help.

Where is that .dll I can't find it in the DmC folder.
