Yup, you read that right, DmC IS the best Devil May Cry game of the series, and Dante A.K.A. Donte is a better Dante than the original Dante.

Yeah, this one I returned when I bought it for the PS3. Not only because of Dante nudity but also because it was clearly a SJW game.

I'm cool with Dante's design alteration but his demeanor is unnecessarily dickish with no build up as to why that is. That said, he and Vergil felt like actual brothers for the first time in 5 games.

Mundus came across as a Disney, Captain Planet style villian, though.

DmC is really corny to native-English-speaking audiences. It's Edgelord Central, riffing on They Live, with a dork's idea of urban fashion and art. The best cutscene is where Vergil tells Dante he's nephilim four times in as many minutes. It's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid.

That said, it plays pretty well. The camera and controls are far more user-friendly. The skill ceiling is very low however, and just because they made the platforming better doesn't mean it should have been 35%+ of the gameplay. The constant cutscenes during combat are a little tedious too.

But after replaying the older games (I opted for the PS360 collection, but I'm curious about this version's patches), DmC sits closer to DMC1 and 4 than I originally thought. The enemy design in DMC1 is top tier, and the combat in 3 and 4 blow DmC out of the water; but, DmC catches up in other ways.

DmC is fun and does improve on the original games in important ways that I hope Itsuno considers when making DMC5. It sits comfortably, from a gameplay perspective, above God of War and other derivatives, but I don't think the meat of the gameplay (the combat) hits that gold standard.

I agree with DmC being the superior Devil May Cry title (the most stylish of them all, undoubtely, and on games being all about style, that is prime). Art and control wise, at least.

I disagree with Donte being better than Dante; they're just different. By the way; did you check that when using the Classic Dante skin, it just blabbers more and more one-liners than usual...?

I don't agree that it's the best Devil May Cry game, but I agree that it's criminally underappreciated. The best is still Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition to me. DMC3 Special Edition is the most Devil May Cry a Devil May Cry game can possibly get. DmC is meant to be a different take, and it accomplishes this wonderfully- plus I'm sorry, Combichrist rules, I just wish they made more original tracks for the game like Shootie HG did. Shootie HG made the music feel more personal to the games, while the Combichrist tracks can be found on their albums mostly. Noisa's bits are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dope tho~

I still think 4 is the better combat imho. Too bad 4 is half finish and some of it's enemy and boss who isn't meant for Dante forced it into Dante's campaign.

DmC felt like a mixture of 3 and God Of War minus the stylis style of 3. It's great, but 4 if you can get into it has the more complex and better combat.

But when i played DmC Enhanced edition with the turbo, Lock On, better enemy placement and types oh boy it's fricking amazing
