IMO I don't think they created extra options for main characters because many players swap them out sooner rather than later from what I've seen as you will likely find better heroes by mid-game even as FTP if you're lucky with free rewards.
Main characters kind of just function as an expanded starter hero that is also default avatar - so make sure to create one you can stand looking at for long periods of time.
Its difficult to find one of those gacha-like games where the main character in your group actually plays an important role,instead of just being invisible/non-combat char/useless
I went for a half-elf with the armor that includes a small sword and picked the soldier trait.
At least this way i can PRETEND that my character is using a sword in melee range or something,but its still quite awful since theres no animation for it...
If they had a male halfling option I would've probably chose that.
