You can even use it over straw and the straw will still be there, and the crop will magically grow right up through it.
I don't know if it works on the front though, maybe it does but I can't confirm since I always rear mount it. I do know that a spreader works on the front, and that it doesn't matter if you spread before or after the crop is planted.
I received just under 8,000.00 for the slurry. I then used a liquid sprayer to fertilizer the same fields and the fertilizer cost about 1,850.00. I never used slurry or manure to fertilize with again.
Well, this is rather disappointing.
I was hoping that all these different fertilizers and sprays had differing effects and bonuses.
If they all do the same thing then much of the simulation loses all point.
I hope that the developers add some complexity to the simulation in future versions.
e.g.
Manure used on the ground before cultivating.
Sprays to reduce damage by pests.
Did this "next patch" you speak of layer fertilizer bonuses?
Having many cows, I use slurry primarily for fertilizing and sell the manure with the manure sell point. Manure is the most labor intensive method to fertilizing your field so I opt to spray slurry. I also only use slurry in fields that are close by to the slurry tank(s).
But basically you use the fertilizer that best suits your situation. Of course everything has a cost associated with it but It's just a matter of options for you as a farmer to choose.
You can even do it prior to sowing anything on the fields, they seem to stay fertilized until they get harvested.
Speaking of different types of implements, I pick up three of four types of fertilizing implements, fully ignoring sprayers. Reasons: they use same amount of money as fertilizer spreaders to refill them, yet they need to be unfolded/folded and there is little gain of just 4 meters of width over spreaders, besides, they are more expensive themselves.
From available pellets fertilizers I choose AMAZONE ZA-M 1501. It is light (even Argon can carry it), compact, give wide coverage (36m), so all starting fields can be fertilized in 2-4 passes, and, what's important for beginner, rather inexpensive, available even for early purchase, even prior harvesting first field.
I don't find too many differences among manure spreaders, so prior Ursus DLC I picked up bigger Bergmann and used it to fertilize fields that are close to pasture (relativelyl I used to fertilize even fields surrounding farm:)). Manure spreaders have three problems - consumption rate is very high, their volume for such rate is rather low, and coverage area is narrow. That means you have to return and refill them frequently. And, if you don't have or don't like Lizard (as I do), you'll have to perform 5 loads with ordinary silage/manure forks. It's not that difficult, I even began to like it, but for "powergaming" it's not an option - too tedious.
Of course you can empty manure silo with abovementioned fork right near silo, I guess there is nothing blocking manure loss. I, however, prefer to use it. Greenhouses may also be good dropping points, even if not user-friendly ones. They are not powergaming too, but I just like tomatoes. :)
However, there is a trick. If you don't want to deal with dry manure - don't feed your cows with straw.
Of whole two slurry tanks available, I use Kotte GARANT VTL 19.500, it's bigger, and, when unfolded, allows wider spreading. Yes, it requires unfolding/folding, but it happens rather fast, slurry is free, and consumption rate is adequate. So why not?
Maybe add a PH to soil quality and type, to make for more variation in what is the best crop choice in different climates and regions; along with pests for the different crop types and regions.
Manure before cultivation to condition the soil with roughage and nutrients for long-term benefit. Worms love it :)
Slurry for a quick nitrogen fix with some soil conditioning and long-term benefits, similar to manure.
Add crop-rotations as necessary for healthy crops.
etc.
There are many ways to enrich gameplay here.
On the other hand, if change is optional, and unnecessary, then I have no problems with it.
Generally speaking, current game allows you to simulate most of activities you offered (except pests, but you can imagine that spraying actually works like insecticide). Yes, there is no reward, but, for example, I do crop rotation, not only because I think it is correct, but for practical reason - I keep my silos full with all crops evenly.
I would really like different model of handling grass, as simple as ability to cultivate soil, without necessary plowing, or restoring field within former boundaries with plowing (not that I have OCD, but vehicles wobble too much for "autosteerable":)), or as complicated as having multiple types of grass, like Lupinus, Clover, Alfalfa, or even Beans, to use them for silaging with different yield, and as green manure, dramatically increasing next harvest.
But, would I want that to be mandatory? Nope. Only optional. Some people may play this game only to relax, they don't need anything complicated, they want one big button "DO COOL NOW".
Still there is one thing that i don't know. Fertilizer and sprayer is the same thing as it was mentioned several times.
If you apply both (you fertilize first and spray after) will it yield double of double?
tbh, it's quite stupid having slurry and manure so much more difficult to use with no added benefits. Why bother? The cost difference is neglible versus application time.
IF, and I say IF, they introduced some *truth* into field degradation and diminishing crop yields from constant use of synthetic fertilisers it would suddenly become important to use the more "difficult" method. I agree it should remain a choice thing - they already have difficulty modes, so no biggy there.
But keeping it stupidly simple for *non-realistic* (read "can't-be-bothered") players denies those that actually want a simulator that err... cough.... simulates.
that I have at my farm is empty, I have been looking all over the net on how to refill it
and have found no answer.
Any one here that could help me with this, just to re-fill it back up or is it no possible to
re-fill it again?
The Manure tank I am talking about is sitting across were you sale your bales.
