"Error: Data Files corrupt. Please reinstall application." Help!

Hey guys, I just bought this game on sale for 13 dollars. I installed the game, and when I pressed play, it gave me an error saying "Error. Data files corrupt. Please reinstall application."
I already tried verifying the files, and it finds nothing missing. Has anyone else had this problem? I don't want to be out 13 bucks!

yeah i had this prob i tried reinstalling the game first and if that didn;t work i had to restore my pc

ugh, so you're saying i might have to reinstall windows?

Try right clicking on it in your games list. Open 'properties'....in there is a way to verify the downloaded files. Try that first

I said in the OP that I had tried that, It finds all of the files.

when did you buy the game? I bought it 2 days ago, I don't know if the download is messed up or something

I bought this game on friday and it worked fine:) I think there is just something wrong with steam because i tried playing it just now and it won't allow me to.

I fixed it, but I forget how :/ I think I deleted some stuff and reinstalled, but I don't remember.

do you rememeber what you did to fix your game? bacause mine is having the same problem yours is.

not exactly, but I do know it's fixable. I think it had somehting to do with the game files in My Games in the My Documents section of Windows
