manure and spraying yield
Does using manure/slurry and then spraying fertilizer yield increase stack? I read that it was going to in a future patch but I am not sure if that patch has come yet.

I wish they'd do something like that.

I would like to see a field get:-
  • Manured
  • Ploughed
  • Cultivated
  • Sown
  • Sprayed with slurry
  • Later sprayed with insecticide
to make for a real intense crop...I expect I have some order wrong here and await correction, but the spirit of my comment is...more crop yield if you do more work! ;)

yeah i agree. I also think its a bit silly having the whole manure feature if it doesn't add to the yield because spraying is a lot quicker. Cheers

The adavantage with manure is that you get it for free at the dairy shed. Fertilizer costs can add up over several acres.

EDIT: This post is about SOLID MANURE and refers to the previous post.
In game Solid Manure is reffered to as "Manure" and Liquid Manure is "Slurry", right?

Only get it for "free" IF you...
  • Put straw into the cow trough.
  • Buy a loader vehicle (which you don't HAVE to have for cows...)
  • Buy a manure fork/bucket.
  • Buy a manure spreader trailer.
Firstly I wonder if the saving is that much if you sell your straw instead and buy fertiliser, or if you sell your straw and use just slurry...

Then I am looking at the extra costs involved, if you just did grass for cows and were happy with 35% yield?

I would like other intelligent folks opinions please?

Plus you're more likely to miss spots with manure/slurry and have to go back and re-do them (if you're like me and have to do it perfectly to satisfy OCD..) :P

I also think that most people will end up buying extra tractors and loaders etc through laziness, because they don't want to drive all the way back and forth every time they want to load manure, and if you're like me you will end up buying spare hardware just to leave at the cow pasture,
So I think maybe in the end just taking the lazy way and using fertilizer is gunna be cheaper and less hassle.

I just wish they would do what you suggested, Saxxan, and give us lots of reasons to use manure. I also would like to see the plow needed.. maybe it should be required every 3-4 harvests otherwise you get patches of crappy soil which takes longer to grow stuff in.

You can get liquid manure free when you use the BGA plant

Yep and a hell of a lot of it aswell .... even if you include the machinery cost over time the manure is a cheaper option. Starting off though its probs easier to just spray ^^

You dont need the straw bits for liquid manure, few cows and toss em in some grass ^^ sorted.
Just a slurry spreader and a mower really.

A lot of people will agree there ... in Fs2011 thanks to some serious production mods manure was one of the "fruits" needed at the garden centre in order to produce compost !!!

Compost was then sold seperatly at the DIY and garden store.

Once people get to grips with some of the game lua documentation i'm sure a lot of new features will come along

OK, what we have here is a language problem.
In game Solid Manure is reffered to as "Manure" and Liquid Manure is "Slurry", right?

I was talking about "Manure" which is the solid stuff from cows that have straw.
"Slurry" is liquid manure.

I have now edited my post for those that need a more detailed explanation...

Once you understand the difference between those 2, then maybe you'll get my post correctly.

Sorry if you don't like this but it's really annoying and frustrating to be misinterpreted in this way.

Yeah I have only tried the cheap slurry tank so far but if the expensive one isn't any wider then I'll give the whole thing a miss until it becomes needed. Also I take into consideration that you could be doing jobs in the extra time it takes to use manure/slurry so I still think fertilizer is the best option. Maybe some math genius can take all the variables into account and tell us the answer lol.
But I really do hope that changes with either a patch or a overhaul mod of some sort.

Wonder if there is a mod that gives us a much wider slurry/manure spread.. then it would be pretty cool.
Saxxan Apr 1, 2013 @ 2:59am
2 types of slurry trailer I know are first a central dispenser that goes, I guess, about 16m wide and the other sort is the spray bar type which unfolds and can be pretty wide, again I guess, around 40m.
So you take your pick, I prefer not to trail booms around but that's a personal thing!

(Now I wait for the ignorant critics who don't read properly to flame my post again...)

There are quite a few slurry mods out there some with huge spreading widths, and some with similar widths to the standard ones but with far greater capicity
