Multiplayer Lag?
Anyone having issues with multiplayer lag?

When I create my own game and friend joins everything is ok, no lag for me.
When ANY friend creates his game and I join my ms (ping) would just jump up and down and it gets to the point where I am teleporting with a tractor. Maybe anyone had same issue before?

Here are some tips that are known to help out. First turn your graphics settings to low. Does not matter what type of system you have the games does not play well on multiplayer with graphics turned up.. next turn Multisampling Antialiasing to off as well as Anistrophic filtering to off. Those 3 changes right there will make a huge difference in MP performance. You can also go into the game.xml file and turn vsync to false. Let your graphics card handle that. All Nvidia users can just change this from the control panel. I am not sure with ATI but i would imagine they have something similiar. After that is all sorted out. Make sure that you only have the same mods that are being used on the server nothing else. Just create a backup folder and toss the rest of your mods in there. EVERYONE WHO JOINS NEEDS TO RUN LIKE THIS. It is no secret that certain mods do not like MP and if one person has something that is conflicting it can cause problems for everyone connected. High ping is one of the main reactions. I run a Dedicated Server and I tell this to the people who play on it. I get hardly no lag at all.. Only times I do is when someone is not following the rules, in which you can tell pretty fast. Anyhow this should help you out a lot. Also please note that if you are using WIFI or DSL your speeds can be slow and affect your ping as well. The faster your connection the better.

Hello Smitty,

My graphics were already to Low, Antialiasing and Filtering was off too.
However I did go to my game.xml file and turned my vsync to false and it seems to work...
I get steady 40-50 PING when I'm playing but just sometimes when I enter a new area it just goes up to 70 PING or so but then goes back to normal 40-50.

Thanks

There is not a huge difference in they way it looks from low to very high. Aside from some shadows and slightly better lighting. Everything remains the same. So not a huge difference nor anything gamebreaking.

Suldok,

I am glad that it got slightly better for you. Also note the map you are using if it is a modded one can have a heavy impact on your performance.
