First off, make sure you have the latest version of G.E which is 5.0.3. You can get it here:

http://gdn.giants-software.com/index.php

Just create a user name & password to D/L it. Then after installing it, unzip your map/mod folder. When working with a mod, I usually have them on the desk top for easy access. The I3d file should be in the Map folder inside. You can import it one of two ways:

1. Open G.E., click on "File" in the top left corner, Import, Desktop, map name, Map, then click on the I3d folder.

2. Open the map/mod folder & find the I3d folder & click on it. I have both versions of G.E. but it always opens in the latest version. (for me anyway).

Then edit away. Save (which is under File again) or you can close the file with the red x in the top right & it will ask you to save if you haven't done so already. What the newer version does is create a "shapes folder which I believe helps with load times.

Don't try to open an I3d file while the mod is still zipped. All you get is a black screen & you will have to open task manager to exit G.E.

To install G.E.:

1. D/L the version of 5.0.3 for your system (32 or 64 bit)

2. Right click the exe file & run as admin

3. Install to C:\Program Files(x86) (or whatever drive GIANTS Software folder is located) \Giants Software\GIANTS Editor_5.0.3_(32 or 64 bit) & install.

4. In your GIANTS Software folder you should now have GIANTS_Editor_5.0.1 & GIANTS_Editor_5.0.3 (32 or 64 bit)

5. Click on 5.0.3 & the second file will be x32 or x64. Click on that & locate editor.exe, right click & run as admin & you should be good to go. I copied & pasted a shortcut of the exe. file to my desktop as I use it quite often.

Keep in mind, once G.E. is installed you can just go to any unzipped mod folder & locate the I3d file & left click.

Note: Since Vista I've got in the habit of running everything as admin, but may not be absolutly neccesary.
