Far Cry 3 will not start// uplay not accepting steam cd key

After clicking the exe for the game in its directory folder, it then loads up uplay which I created an account, then asks for the cd key, says "the cd key or activation code is not valid", I'm at a loss...

Running the game from the steam library results in green text saying I'm in game for 2 seconds, I can see the cpus jump up as if they were loading then they drop down and nothing happens, no crash, or warning just nothing.....

Well if you guys do find a solution that works please post it here. I'm seeing several threads here with the exact same problem, so something is definitely wrong.

This is because the steam support sucks.
Do as I do. I downloaded a crack and temporarily solved my problem.
My problem is much worse than yours, friend. They sold me the game without a cd key. That's right! "Failed to contact key server". This happens when they no longer have cd key left.

Does downloading a "crack" help you actually be able to load Farcry 3's Uplay thing through the steam library? If so where do you get it?

I downloaded a crack to fix it too... just so I could play. But then me and a friend fixed it.
Heres how:
FC3 Steam Not Launching Uplay Fix
goto Uplay download client install it.
Set steam to run as admin
Set FC3 to run as admin both d3d11 and reg
right click
farcry3_d3d11
and create shortcut
rick click shortcut
select properties
Set Target to: "Driveleter:\Steam\steamapps\common\Far Cry 3\bin\farcry3_d3d11.exe" "-uplay_steam_mode"
(replace Drive leter with your actualy drive letter: C:\, D:\, E:\, G:\
mod: "-uplay_steam_mode"
The Mod we're using allows steam to run uplay in steam mode.

Now my problem is that the game crashes before I even get to the main menu (at the splash screen I guess its called).

Frank, I'd start by updating my video card drivers... if that doesn't work look at the minimum reqs for the game. Really need more information to help you out.

I was at the 310.70 nvidia drivers, rolled back to 306.97 to see if it helped (didnt by the way).
Running:
Windows 8
EVGA 560Ti
8gigs of ram
game is installed on my 120gb SSD, along with steam. Ubisoft installed on on my other HDD.

After updating to the newest nvidia beta driver I also experienced the "error 193" problem and if I started the game with farcry3.exe, it didn't accept my FC3 key.
The solution for me was:

1.) I deleted the "FC3UpdaterSteam.exe" file in the "X:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Far Cry 3\bin" directory. (Maybe should make a backup firs.)
2.) I made a copy of the "farcry3.exe" with the name of the file mentioned above (FC3UpdaterSteam.exe).
3.) I started the game through the Steam. (The bl***y uplay didn't even ask for the key.)

Try this method and please let me know if it works for you!

So I've done that. uplay now launches from Steam, but the game itself still crashes within seconds of launchin from uplay.

I forgot to mention that if you have played the DirectX 11 version of the game you have to overwrite the "FC3UpdaterSteam.exe" with the "farcry3_d3d11.exe" instead of the DX9 version (farcry3.exe).

You can also try to reinstall uplay[uplay.ubi.com] or install the newest nvidia driver (again).

I've reinstalled uplay and the nvidia driver again. Also fixed the file like you said. I still get the crash.

unbelievable... here is my issue... same as everyone launch and uplay says my new CDKey invalid... went into steam folder and ran farcry3.exe directly... it opened Uplay and THIS time it ook my CDKey and was ok. Awesome. "play game"... game installed incorrectly try reinstalling. ok... did that still fails to load but atleast I'm past the CDKey. Alright well since I put in the CDKey now I tried to fire it up through steam... uplay opens... asks for CDKey... I'm under the same account as last time but this time won't take my key and apparently since I've tried to unlock the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game so many times it's "temporarily banned me". so in 2 weeks this is the second game from steam that blows and doesn't work. AC3 has no character sound... this game can't even figure out it's own CDKeys... I think their games exist just to rip people off.

Frank, did you end up fixing this? I seem to be in the exact same boat as you. I have tried all of these fixes and the closest I have come is having it crash when starting in uplay after the initial splash screen (not even full-screen yet).
