Chances of getting banned?

I've looked around online but can't find anything about Far Cry 3 having an Anti Cheat system, or VAC. I've found there are some mods for Far Cry 3 and namely a Flawless Widescreen plugin for the game that I'm wanting to use, but I've been burned before by thinking modding is okay then getting a ban for it and want to make sure.

Yeah i got banned for modding BO2, really sucks too caus that was my favorite one to play zombies.

Honestly I'm used to it, a lot of people just harass people with VAC bans like crazy assuming they got it by cheating, even though you can absolutely get VAC bans for stupid reasons like myself and Valve is kind of a ♥♥♥♥ about discussing or removing them. I've been trying to push for some kind of reform to the VAC ban system but no one seems to care and just labels me another cheater.
