NPC shaking/vibrate animation bug
I can play far cry 3 maxed out and super smooth at 60fps vsync without an ounce of stutter. But when you come across NPC's you occasionally get this bug where NPC's vibrate on the spot. It lasts maybe 2 seconds but it is annoying as hell. Many other people have this issue too but I have yet to find a fix. I emailed Ubisoft support but I'm still playing the waiting game. Does anyone here see the same thing and found a way to fix it?
My system is clean as a whistle and drivers all up to date. I'm using the NVIDIA GTX 780.
Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I used the -norigidchars command in the shortcut target and it didn't work.
To tell you the truth, out of nearly 300 games I have bought on steam, Far Cry 3 is the only one title I have that I bought direct from Ubisoft (80% off sale at the time), but you receive better help from Steam members. If your issues mirrored mine I will buy it on Steam too, even though it means I will have 2 copies. It will be worth it to remove the NPC shaking. It is £14.99 at the moment so I'm debating to whether to hang on till a sale comes up. Even if the sale is way off, I will comment back here to whether the fix worked or not. I am sure it will if it solved it for you.

I just got a 144Hz monitor yesterday and I don't need anymore VSync now. So I made a quick test of FC3 without VSync nor -norigidchars: no NPC shakes. It was a quick test and I don't have time to play more now, but it may mean -norigidchars is somewhat related to VSync: Both options or none. Maybe... At least for me...
UPDATE: After more testing, I did have the problem again, even without VSync. I had to retype -norigidchars in launch options.

Finally bought the game on Steam (having bought the game originally from Gamersgate 2 yrs ago) and finally I can play without the NPC shaking bug. The steam launch command worked "-norigidchars"
For some reason that command never worked in the Target line of the Far Cry shortcut from Ubisoft version so I have bought the game twice to play it as intended. A waste of money buying it again but I am just happy that after 2 years I don't have to see those dodgy animations again :)

As you already played FC3, I highly recommend Ziggy mod for a do-what-you-want gaming experience.

Choose the hardcore version for some nice challenge. I really cannot play vanilla FC3 anymore now that I know this mod.

what the author says is the exact feeling I had first time I played with Ziggy mod: I am free!

Thanks Muzzle, I have bookmarked the links and will have a read later this evening and download it.. Do you recommend I try this mod first and skip the vanilla game? Is the Ziggys mod pretty much complete experience with little or no bugs? Thanks in advance.

If you never finished the game (or forgot a lot), then it might be a good idea to play vanilla first because there is no hand holding at all with Ziggy mod.
If you already completed the vanilla game, start a new game with the mod. It is not buggy. I personally have very few light graphic glitches, not even sure they are related to Ziggy mod. Ziggy is still updating his mod. Current hardcore version (3.1b5) is in beta state, so maybe use 3.0 (BTW this is nexus, you have to login to download).
Enjoy the lethal beauty of Rook Islands :)

Hi Muzzle, I never finished the original game so I am on with that at the moment and then I will play Ziggys mod asap. I have read up on it and It looks awesome.

On another note, I know Ubisoft have been receiving a lot of flack lately (mainly regarding Watch Dogs and The new Assassins Creed game) but yesterday Ubisoft support gave me a FREE Far Cry 3 - Blood Dragon activation code because of the trouble I had been having with the "animation shaking issues" over the last few months (I linked Ubisoft to this thread after you guys helped me fix it) because they couldn't seem to resolve it. I thought it was good of them to do that so it was a good result all around.

Bravo!
I don't like Ubisoft but I also don't appreciate all the bashing. It is good to read that they can be fair sometimes.
