I'm so, SO stuck on the Doppelganger mission.

I'm literally so stuck it hurts. I've seen that mission failed screen about 20 times now. No matter how I distract the guards there's always one guy looking in my direction. I've tried throwing rocks at every combination of objects from every direction I can think of and someone always notices me.

There was one time where I reached the dock just milliseconds before I was seen, hence my checkpoint was set there but I closed the game down. I felt dirty for essentially having found an "exploit".

I'm stressed, I can't lie. The rock throwing mechanic just seems so broken in this game and in fact I've hardly used the sneak game mechanic anywhere in Far Cry 3 "successfully".

Does anyone have any advice at all? This part is making me tear my hair out. Damnit.

There's an online walkthrough I had to follow. I'm kind of bad at stealth, but I'm actually surprised at how effective rock throwing can be. Last night I cleared out my first base using only stealth takedowns, with only two arrows fired.

I snuck right under the ramp after distracting the guys with some rocks, personally cant believe it worked :/ but check the walkthrough Nangleator has to offer, it should help you get passed no problem.

I pass the entire game without this kind of problems, have you install the patches? I don't have "the rock problem". Check the official site and see the download section, maybe you find a solution.

Make sure you're not actually going down the main ramp section towards the two flamethrowers, there is a path to the far left which takes you behind most guards. It's then a case of walking/crouching under the main ramp and right past the flamethrower into the dock area where you can climb down the ladder to get into the water.

You shouldn't actually need to throw any rocks in this instance, as crouching works perfectly.

I'm also stuck on this mission, though I manage to fail far faster than the OP. I just can't do stealthing in tight environments. So my question is: is there any exploit I could use to not make the game register when I takedown all the guards (because that I can most certainly do without being spotted).

Not sure about the exploit, but have you tried turning down your game difficulty?

This mission is the worst. I just threw a rock and sprinted for the exit. Checkpoints ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rule.

I found it helped to die right after every checkpoint. That way the enemies reset their behaviours. Most of the time, you can just follow them around as they don't look behind when they are unaware. Throwing too many rocks just seems to stir them up too much.

It is a crummy mission, but there's always some crummy missions in a Fry Cry/Crysis game.

Are you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kidding me. I have been getting so pissed at this mission. I've been throwing rocks everywhere just like OP. I read this and I decided to try this just for the heck of it and it worked the first time.

What really bothers me about the rock throwing thing is that it somehow scares them so much it makes them step back.

this mission pisse dme right off. til i read about going under the last ramp. i found a spot in my trial and errors that i could gewt in the water w/o failing. i got to the boat and no ladder. tried climbing up the dock, mission failed i was heard diving in the water coming out of it. but yeah left side pathway, under the 2nd ramp, no stone needed.

Hi guys, this is a simple way (that works for me) that I posted on the 23 Feb this year that is pretty failsafe. I use it all the time even on the hardest level:



As stated, stealth is parramount in this mission. You are not timed so how long it takes is not an issue either, so use the time you have well. There are (3) main areas of concern to succeed in this (once you are familiar with it) and then it will be easy. Tag all as you go.

First, the first Privateer at the top of the entrance is easiest to pass when you are on his rhs at the start and come from behind a shipping container. Throw a rock to the back of him and he will turn around and go look. Go down the ramp as quick as you can.

Second, there will be a Privateer at the bottom of a ramp you need to go down, so go to the right and climb a ledge. You will be protected buy some vegitation, so won't be seen. Then throw a rock back to your left and he should come up for a look see and you should be able to sneak past him and down the ramp.

Third, further down past a dead lady you will find two guys (I think one sitting to the left and one standing to the right). The one on the right will move towards a ledge that overlooks your exit, sneak down the left behind the seated guy and you will a number of guys including one of which is 'Heavy Armoured'. Then if you look up to the right you will see the one that is peering over your exit.

The crunch, throw a rock up and behind him and he will turn and walk back. Now all you have to do is sneak behind the HA guy and down the ramp into the water. Your indicator will start to come on but keep going and jump in the water and stay under. Then just swim toward the yellow marker which is your next location.

These are the main things, the rest you will work out I am sure. Don't throw rocks unnessarily as this can make the situation worse........Good luck. P.S. This how I do it, it is not compulsory.
