Can't Launch farcry3.exe: failed to execute command error 740

I keep getting this error... I just bought this game, and I'd love to play it.... anyone else having this problem? I tried running everything as administrator.

I am also having this error. I had it working about an hour ago but quit to change some settings on my magic mouse. When I restarted my computer the game would no longer work, even after another restart. My error is: "Failed to execute command farcry3.exe (error 740) please make sure this executable file exists." and I did verify that it does in fact exist under ProgramFiles(x86)>Steam>Steamapps>common>farcry3>bin

i managed to fix this by uninstalling farcry 3, and uplay, then installing both farcry 3 and uplay through steam, on the same hard drive. then i ran as admin, and everything works now.

eternalcore, none of those solved this peticular problem. the only way I got it to work was by completely uninstalling farcry 3, and uplay, then reinstall farcry 3 through steam, and allow steam to install uplay. that's the only way uplay will allow farcry 3 to work.

You are a god. only thing I did was disable the Uplay overlay. Been messing with this for 5 hours, following that thread posted above by EternalCore. Which after doing every solution, no solution worked. What a waste. Hope it works for others. But I am off to enjoy. Hope this works for others also!

Thanks! Another thing to try is to start the application in safe mode.

I can't seem to launch this game through steam. Have to set up a shortcut with the "-uplay_steam_mode" added on before it launches in Uplay. Not sure if my friends have the same problem, but they never mentioned having launch issues.

Would very much like to play multiplayer with them through steam so they don't have to make a new profile on uplay

You have to use uplay. No way around it. The game is sold on steam, but that's it. Ubisoft made it so you absolutely have to use uplay.
