You can also add -language=russian or -language=english etc.
Same problem as Dom I got Far Cry 3 has stopped working. I'm calling ubisoft again now I will post a solution if they can figure out the problem which of course is unlikley.

Ok this worked for me I don't know if it will for you dom as I don't know your hardware. But all I had to do was go to the nvidia control panel and set FXAA to "OFF" (under the program settings in manage 3D settings) on both the farcry.exe and the farcry_d3d11.exe and click apply, after that booting the game through Bean's method above worked perfectly .

dude it didn't work for me. i have nvidia too and i did what you said but both of my farcry.exe and the farcry_d3dl1.exe already have the FXAA OFF. i have windows 7 btw. you might have a different os. :((((
