How I fix the "game won't launch" problem... uPlay, obvisuly, was the one to blame.

Folks, before anything... Uninstall any version of uPlay that you have, download it trough the Ubisoft site and install it...

Usually, the uPlay that comes trough Steam causes problems... The one that came with Far Cry 3 won't even open and in the rare ocassions that I managed it to open, it won't register my game saying that the CD Key was invalid...

After install the uPlay from Ubisoft site, all these problems vanish and the game registered with the same cd key...

Ubisoft should just forget about this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ software when distributing the game trough Steam...

I tried this, and Far Cry 3 isn't listed under Games, in fact there are no games listed at all even though when I go in and run the Far Cry 3 DX11 exe file, it is still there and saying invalid CD key, and I do not see anywhere in UPlay to add a CD Key, only to look up orders to find the key in the order info, which by ordering it through Steam, does not exist.

I launched the game trough Steam as any other game and it worked... If you open uPlay as a software, it won't show your Steam games but, if you go trough Steam, than it works... Atleast worked here to Far Cry 3 and Assassin's Creed 3...

I click play on Steam and uPlay opens and I click play on uPlay. Are you trying to open uPlay as administrator? Because that doesn't work here, everytime that I opened the game as administrator the cd key fail to work...

If you open farcry3.exe your key will not work...u should open it thru Steam.

When I click Play through Steam I get an hourglass for a second or two, a "regsvr32.exe" file shows up in my Task Manager Processes, but no Farcry3.exe and the game never loads. How is the game launching if not for the farcry3.exe or one of the exes in the Far Cry 3 folder?

i am having the same problem, steam won't launch uplay, even after downloading uplay off of ubisoft's website.

Ok guys, some development here... Today the game just stoped to launch... After reinstall uPlay and set some administrator rules, it still won't work... So I checked files integrity and it actually said that something was wrong and downloaded whatever it was (Steam doesn't make it clear)... Than I tryed to open the game again and it reinstalled something called PunkBuster. It can be found in the Support folder inside the Far Cry 3 folder in Steam.

After PunkBuster reinstall, it launched again without problems...

I had this launcher issue all day, which is "great" because I got far cry 3 yesterday.
And the weirdest this is, I can't even download the uplay installer even from ubisofts own website, which is bull.
Anyone got another side that I can download the installer from?

Have been playing the game since it came out, now all of a sudden I can't login to Uplay. Which means I can't play my game. It won't even load the game if I click offline. I have tried some of the suggestions in http://ubisoft.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/17580/p/88,2509 except for
Game Ports for Far Cry 3
TCP: 80, 443
UDP: 9000

Punkbuster
UDP: 10009

Uplay PC Client
TCP: 80, 443, 13000, 14000, 14008

No idea what that means. I turned my Firewall off completely and that didn't help, so it's not the firewall. Deleted my HOSTS file and that's not the problem. Don't know how to tell my router (Linksys) to allow it. Don't know why I need to do anything since it's always been working fine. What changed?
