Far Cry 3 "GamerProfile.xml (ini/config) tweaks"
Here is information of FC3 ini/config tweaks.
Please post reply If you know other effects.

1st step:

Open "GamerProfile.xml" with notepad or something and edit it.
(in My document/User folder)

*Please backup original xml file before you start editing.

---
Disable SSAO:

Search "SSAOLevel".
And change to SSAOLevel="0".

0 means disable.

--
Iron sight toggle mode:

Search "IronsightToggleMode".
And change to IronsightToggleMode="1".

--
Not works??:

ShowFPS
RefreshRate (Maybe it's not means fps limit.)

--
notice: Changes maybe revise when you change in-game options.
(ex: SSAOLevel="0" change to SSAOLevel="1" automatically.)

'PostFXQuality = false' -> increases your fps by 5~10
'ShowFPS = 1' -> shows the current frame rate on top right

I got another tip for fps boost, not sure whether it works on other systems though :

Nvidia users download a program called 'nvidia inspector' open it and select far cry 3
in the profiles, once selected , see in Common section -> Vertical Sync , set it to
Force on, click apply and close it.

Now open the game and load your saved file and when in-game, go to options and set
vsync to off -> apply and change it to 1 (not 2) and apply.

As for AMD users, go to your control panel of graphics card settings and do the same.

Now you maybe able to see noticeable increase in fps and no tearing.

Hope this helps

Except you've forced v-sync across all games from then all. And V-sync creates input latency. Unless you know what v-sync actually does and know that you want it, don't follow this advice.

Its for reducing the horrible tearing and the input lag isnt that noticeable unless you've increased gpubufferedframes to 3 or more. But the gameplay is now buttery smooth without any stutters, tearing or frame skips after this tweak.

I did all of these, but it looks like my game was barely changed. FPS remained largely the same

You can right-click and open with Notepad to make changes.

Note: I've also seen once you make your changes, save, right-click > properties and in the General tab, mark the file as "read-only" so the game doesn't overwrite your changes.

hello ik im really late but where do i find the GamerProfile.xml
Ubi-Borealis  [developer] Oct 17, 2021 @ 2:54am
Hello there S4kura!

You should be able to find the GamerProfile.xml by following this path (as shared above by ChainsawChody!): C:\<User>\Documents\my games\Far Cry 3\GamerProfile.XML

You can then open the file using Notepad to make any tweaks.

If you're still having trouble finding your GamerProfile.xml file, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Thanks!

I know I'm also pretty late but I don't have Far Cry 3 folder in my games folder and I can't find anything online to help me, any ideas?

Hey HumanSounds!

Just as previously stated, did you have a look at 'Documents' section on your PC to see if you're able to locate it?

If you are having any difficulties, let us know and we will gladly take a closer look!
