Only you...
Try to remember what other ubi accounts you have
To unlink ubi account from steam, go here: https://account.ubisoft.com/en-GB/account-information

I only have one account at UBI and when I try to start the game it opens directly to the linked account, I've already sent a message to UBI but so far nothing.

When you opening ubisoftconnect client and go to your library, you see near FarCry 3 "STEAM" sign?

No game appears there, but the Steam account does appear
Same issue. I had a problem last night. Said it was linked to different account. So i signed off and than couldnt sign back on. Said too many attempts.

I tried again today. Was able to sign in no problem. I than tried to first launch the game thru Ubisoft Connect which has a Steam icon for Far Cry 3. It than launched the game thru Steam. It seems my old saves never synced or were in the cloud. So i closed the game to use my manual backup saves.

Now the game is saying its not linked to the account again, thru both Ubisoft Connect and Steam. Which literally makes no sense as I just had game running and just unlocked achievments when it closed the game.

I already contacted their support and its been 24 hours since, but still havent heard from them. Its crazy how this happens so much to soo may Ubisoft users.

My game doesn't appear on Ubisoft Connect. I have to log in only through Steam. I think you need the game key for it to appear, right?

What should happen. Is if you bought game from Steam store. When you go to launch the game, itll than link to Ubisoft Connect, like it does for all Ubisoft games. The game should than populate in your Ubisoft Connect library as well. It will than have a Steam icon showing game was purchased there.

This is my library showing my games in grid view. As you can see, most are bought thru Steam, which have the icon. For AC Valhalla, I have on both platforms, which lists the game twice. One for UC and the other for Steam. https://imgur.com/j1csk8c

So why its not appearing for you I am not sure. Its a complete mix up on Ubisoft's part. Because I just had game running and now I cant.

Unfortunately the only thing you can do is open a ticket like I did, and wait it out.

Just an update. If I open the game by selecting the .exe directly. The game opens up 100% of the time. No issues.

However, you lose the ability to use Steam Overlay.

So you can thank Ubisoft's terrible DRM at play here and this really should be patched, or Ubisoft really needs to get rid of their launcher. It really is terrible and has been in beta for years.

As it really is a joke that this happens to such an old game.
I had this same issue with the Division. My Division 1 had a Ubisoft activation code that was linked with an old Ubisoft account my Dad made a couple years back that he then gave to me. In recent years though I created my own Ubisoft account and play / register my games on there instead. I decided I wanted to play the Division 1 again recently and this error popped up. Despite having bought the game on Steam, I needed to log into the old account on Ubisoft Connect in order to play the game again as the code and accounts didn't link up; Me being an achievement freak I wasn't willing to give up there.

Tried for three days with Ubisoft Support where their only solution was to transfer all the games from the old Ubisoft account to my current one in order to transfer with it the copy of Division which was linked with my Steam. I gave them information after information, spoke with multiple members of the support team, and it was only last second that they turned around and said my account was not compatible to have games transferred over from one-to-the-other, something they could have easily told me from the start, rather than waste mine and theirs time.

Long story short I permanently removed the game from my Steam Account (After the Winter Sale had ended) and re-bought the game with the Season Pass so that I had a new activation code that would link up with my new Ubisoft account. Thankfully by some miracle the game and it's DLC went on sale again shortly after the Winter Sale had ended so I had a nice discount. It's still scummy to think that after all the evidence I provided I still couldn't play a game that I payed full price for at the time.

With that said, just either buy the game again or do what animal_PLANET did and just launch the game directly from the .exe. That way you avoid feeding into Ubisofts ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I hope you get to play the game again soon :)

Ok, what's the alternative?

Talk with the support and they will do nothing about it?
As I said Ubisoft will do Jack Squat when it comes to transferring games. It is honestly not worth your time. I am not making this up when I say this, they told me they cannot just transfer one game, but have to transfer ALL the games essentially making the old account redundant. They then expect you to give the activation codes of each game and the DLCs you own, emails, names, the whole lot. And in my situation when I fully cooperated and gave everything they asked for, they tell you right at the very end that your account is not eligible for game transfer.

As I mentioned, either outright buy another copy (Though I do agree this shouldn't be an option), or attempt animal_PLANET's idea of loading directly from the .exe when you install your already owned copy.

Here's what happens to me after the update for the Steam achievements.

Each time i'm launching the game from Steam, it requires from me to enter my Ubisoft connects account password in order to play.Meanwhile, launching Ubisoft connect alone, it remembers me and no account credentials are needed, on the same email/account.Ubisoft can go F themselves.
