Not Sync Achievements?
Is there a way to not synchronize achievements? I don't want to play the game and see pretty much all achievements done at the same time, it feels like I'm using SAM or SCC to do the achievements, like cheating. The reason why I want to play is to redo the achievements myself, or else there's no purpose for me.

Yeah completely agree, like most others. The appeal of the achievements is in doing a fresh playthrough and actually unlocking them as we go. We want to do them, not have them auto-unlock. Surely the incentive for Ubisoft adding these achievements was to increase the amount of players playing the game, which advertises the game to others/friends. The sync means that goes out the window..

well actually you did them they just didnt existed in steam yet so everyone is aware that you are not cheating xd - but well I guess just link steam to a different ubisoft account^^

We did them on Uplay, not Steam. @nodraw is 100% right, the purpose of having those achievements on Steam is to replay the game and do everything, if the achievements simply sync, there's no purpose. Even if everyone knows that Steam Achievements came after, I am still not fine with having a lot of achievements made at the same time, I had this issue when Valve decided to make Half-Life 2 a single game pop up literally all achievements at these same time. I could try to use Steam Console to undo them, but if is sync is on, they'll sync every single time I logon. The idea is to remove the sync from Uplay, and I don't know if this is possible.

Well, on Uplay we have a "Add launch arguments" similar to Steam, maybe there's a launch command to stop syncing, like playing offline or something like that? I don't know Uplay enough to know their commands.

Well, this is a lie. The moment I play the game I made 39 out of 44 achievements. I can try to reset them using Steam Console, but I believe Uplay will redo them every time I log in.

Well, what I did right now was to turn off Cloud Save from Ubisoft Connect and Far Cry 3, then I deleted all saves manually from the folders, and reset all stats from Far Cry 3 on Steam (locked all achievements back), and now I'll try to play the game one more time.

Edit: It didn't work.
I have no idea if it's possible to avoid this stupid forced sync.

Ok, I understand what's happening, and I think it's impossible to avoid the forced sync.

The reason why we are doing achievements on Steam automatically is because Steam is syncing with Ubisoft Connect's achievement, which we can't lock back because when do achievements on Ubisoft Connect we get points to redeem rewards and stuff like that, and since we can't return the rewards we can't cashback the points to return the points and lock the achievements.

SO... Yeah, we are forced to have the achievements made automatically, and I bet this will happen with pretty much every single Far Cry game.

Damn. ^ Thanks for posting your updates.
So...still no fix? this is so r e t ar d e d from ubisoft's side

Feel the same way, what's the point of adding them to steam if they're basically a mirror of your progress on Uplay. If I wanted to continue that progression, i'd be using Uplay, which I am not. And yeah, it makes me look like some SAM scrub who can't play video games legit.

Because Steam is Steam. Who cares about some achievements on Uplay, Origins or Epic. They better be on Steam like other achievements. You can't delete achievements on Steam to redo them either so I don't see how this is such a big deal.

Because we wanted to earn them on Steam instead of having them auto-unlock based on progress on a different system.

Is that really so hard to understand?

Yes it is :D You have already achieved them. For example, I really liked God of War and did all the achievements for it a year ago. I started playing it again and I did miss achievements, but I had no problem understanding that what is achieved is achieved.

Maybe the feeling is stronger when there are more than 10 years between play times but otherwise the situation is exactly the same. If everything had worked smartly at the time of release, the achievements would have been synced back then.
