Warning: If you delete your Uplay account you can never play your copy of the game again.
I bought this game yesterday during the sale and I still have not been able to play because of Uplay. I have been on their support site reading through their FAQ when I came across this:

Consequences of Deleting an Account

By deleting your account, any keys for games already registered to an account will be permanently disabled as your Uplay account is linked to them. Therefore, those games will no longer be accessible to you. Your Ubisoft username and all the CD keys (install keys, activation keys etc) of Ubisoft games will be permanently banned! Once a CD key is banned, it will not be possible to use it again.

https://support.ubi.com/en-us/faq.aspx?platformid=60&productid=3888&faqid=kA030000000eSSUCA2

So Far Cry 3 will sit in your Steam library and you can download it from Steam as many times as you like, but if you delete your Uplay account you will never be able to play that copy again.

Confirmed. I have this same problem. I created a new Uplay account with the same email address but no luck. This is copy write BS gone to the extreme. At what point do i own the game? I guess i'll have to go and pirate the game i already own in order to play it.

out of curiosity, why would you delete your Uplay account in the first place?

Maybe they thought uplay sucked so they removed it, then low and behold they ended up with another uplay game?

Yes, this. Maybe it wasn't the best choice to delete my account (honestly i don't remember deleting it i thought i just uninstalled it...big difference), but why does this mean i no longer have access to my purchase??

That's a scam and crime on their part but good luck ever taking them to court for it and winning, at least in Canada...

To paraphrase consumer protection laws: " you have the right to your purchases free from encumbrance and to expect to use your purchases unobstructed".

Best guess is that since you don't own the game, but rather purchase a license to use the game and since it is tied to an account. Once the account is deleted the license goes with it. So even if you create another account with the same email address it's counted as a new account, as the old one is permenatly gone.

My guess is that the same thing would happen if you deleted you Steam account.

What did you think was going to happen? You're deleting the account, everything within it and tied to it... I'm sorry but honestly where did common sense go with people these days?

Incredible...

Yea, I was going to avoid this one because of the having to log into another player or what not, but, for the price, I couldn't pass it up.

I do love the fact that I could pirate this right now, and play hassle free, but, after buying, I'm forced to jump through hoops... It's f'ed up.

So, since it's easier to pirate, then to just play after you buy it... What good does the DRM do? Just one more way to track that, that's it.

Reason I wanted to delete mine is because I had a typo in the email that I did not catch, plus that email belongs to a completly different person so for me that account was useless, when I went to purchase Rainbow Six Seige ( I refunded it) so I can run it on the new account with right email, it went back to registering with the old account that I can't change the email or confirm it :| I need help, how do I unlink uplay account from steam completely without a trace left on my steam profile

yep that is an easy mistake anyone could make, seems pretty dodgy on ubi softs part

My brother had the same problem, and Ubisoft transfered all his uplay games to his new account.
So just ask for help.

or buy a new cd key
Just a NIGHTMARE! Oct 22, 2018 @ 4:33am
I just deleted my account, UBI was not happy and tried to make me work hard to find all serial keys for confirmation. Easy way out: I edited all information (name, etc) to random stuff and changed email to a temporary email provider, confirmed the new email it and then deleted the temporary email. Finally got rid of them FOR GOOD!
