White Belly Tapir Crash?
Every single time I try to do the White Belly Tapir mission the game crashes when I reach the location with the bow. I've put 17 or 18 hours in the game and haven't had a crash until this mission. When I enter the area and start searching for the Tapir, boom, crash. Sometimes I get CLOSE to the area and then click escape to save the game, and clicking escape crashes the game.

Like I said, this hasn't happened anywhere else.

Anyone else experience this or find a solution of any kind yet?

Update: Doesn't even matter if I'm on the mission or not. If I'm anywhere near the little island in the river then it crashes.

have you tried what was in the first pinned topic about crashes?

I read through a significant amount of that thread and most of it was talking about initial startup crashes, or overheating, that kind of stuff. I'm not having graphical issues or overheating or anything like that, and the game runs fine almost all of the time. The fixes in that thread didn't make any sense for what my problem is.

sorry, I tried to help, looks like you know what the problem is.

I mean if I could get confirmation that my issue is related to the same issues talked about in that thread, then I would go with some of those solutions. However, reading through that thread and on the ubisoft forums, it doesn't sound similar to any of the scenarios they describe.

Crashing in one small geographic location on the island and nowhere else. That's what is happening with me. If that can be solved using one of the solutions posted about in that thread, someone please point me to it. I looked at the list of 6 or so possible solutions and none of them looked relevant. I could DEFINITELY be wrong though.

I do appreciate the help, I wasn't trying to downplay your advice pointing me to that thread, I was more just noting that I had already read it. I try not to be one of those people that ignores major pinned topics on issues before posting my own separate thread.

Sounds like a file is corrupt or something. Just verify your game cash and you should be good to go.

Verified it and it re-downloaded like a 3kb file. I thought that would fix it but it still crashes in that same area. Bah. The good thing is I can just avoid that mission/area and never get that white tapir and I'll be problem free. It's just annoying cause I'm a bit of a completionist, but whatever.

what video card do you have? update your video card drivers? or do a clean install?
breadman86 Dec 14, 2013 @ 6:48am
GeForce GT 650M ... which I know mobile graphics cards aren't completely supported in this game, but it's runs flawlessly in every area except that one bit.

I think a clean install is necessary if I really want to go to that one tiny island to complete that animal hunting quest. I keep verifying game cache integrity and every single time it downloads a 1.3kb file. It's like it never keeps the file. Could be something as small as code related to that one island. Who knows.

or maybe even reinstall the whole game if you can?
breadman86 Dec 14, 2013 @ 6:27pm
Well this is unlucky. I thought I would be able to entirely avoid that one tiny little river island for the rest of the game. Nope. Very next single player mission took me right to it. With a world as big as Far Cry 3, that surprised me. Guess it's time for a complete re-install of the whole game... hopefully that'll work.

Bah, living in China right now so that takes me a good day and a half to re-download too. What fun.

:/ good luck

Ubisoft tech support is the worst. So lazy.

"I'm sorry but the game is not supported for a mobile graphics card.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused

If you have any further queries or issues please do not hesitate to contact us again and we will assist you further."

I've run the game 20 hours flawlessly on my high end mobile graphics card, and my crash is clearly entirely unrelated to a graphics issue, yet this is their response. I guess they see that there is one thing that is officially unsupported, so even though that isn't causing the problem, they aren't going to bother helping me.

Welcome to the world of AAA games, where they devs don't give a flying ♥♥♥♥ as long as the mindless console masses will pay for any ♥♥♥♥ the devs pump out.
