Fast Travel Unavailable: Literally impossible to even play the game past the first mission

So I just bought Far Cry 3 and got it installed and what not and got playing, but after getting the plants and boar hides I can't do anything except lose the mission. The option for fast travel is unavailable and there's no way around it as far as I know. I've been reading through the forums and tryng the fixes that work for some but to no prevail. Does ANYONE know of a fix to get fast travel working?

Yes, I double click it. Yes I'm hitting the fast travel icon. I've tried the fixes that some people have come up with and they don't work or I can't figure it out. I've also seen some people say something about mods but I don't have any installed for this game. Please Help. I Just want to get through this unnecessary ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

same here, beginning to wonder if it might have been a mistake to buy it after all... 10 minutes of uplay nonsense before actually playing the game just to get stuck in the first mission.

apparently it has something to do with corrupted save files(?)..haven't tried anything yet though

No I'm unable to drive/walk back to Dennis because it'll bring a window up saying I"m leaving the mission area and will lose. My buddy has the game and a couple days ago we tried playing on his and it worked just fine. I went to Far Cry 3 properties within steam and cheked the local cache and it came up with a corrupted file but nothing changes. I've reinstalled the game 4 times, nothing. I've reinstalled steam a couple times and the game, nothing. Plus I can't find anything online about a possible fis that works for everyone. Some people have gotten some stuff to work. Appreciate the response

i just restarted the story (watching 25 minutes of intro again yey) and used the second save option and luckily it just worked itself out and I was able to quicktravel that time. But i doubt that is any help to you since you have already stated that you even reinstalled the game :/

The first mission was along time ago for me but, don't you have to use the plants to make a syringe and the Boar hides to make a pouch inorder to complete the mission? Go into your crafting menu and use those.

Also, you can't fast travel when on any mission in the game. Only when you are out exploring/not on a mission.

I'm actually in game now. I came back here to mention that my Uplay launcher also keeps closing during gameplay but alsways at the same time. The game keeps working though.

And the part of the game I'm referring to is during Harvest the Jungle. I have to get 3 plants, red, blue, green, and 2 boar hides. The window stating i got those comes up and tells me to open my map and fast travel back to Dennis. When I open my map (I've tried on keyboard and mouse and my controller) and hit fast travel and a window comes up saying Fast Travel is unavailable. That's theonly way to get past it. If I walk too far I'll lose. if I die, it'll get stuck on a black screen. I've reinstalled the game 3 times and even steam twice. It's so weird

I still think you need to go into your crafting menu and use those items inorder to complete the mission and be able to fast travel.

nope that crafting stuff comes after you got back to the village

Here are my savefiles, i did 1 mission and a headhunt (5-10 mins further in) plus a little farming. If that doesn't bother you that much you could probably just put them into your folder and play from there

here is the path i found them in, you probably have some other random string in the end
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\bb41c8ae-b7ca-4c86-a049-2f9c563628d5"

just extract those 2 folders into that location

ingame its the second save file (probably folder 46 but i wasnt sure so i included both)


edit: you should probably disable that cloud saving stuff in the uplay launcher first though

Agreed. You have to get past the fast travel unavailable first. I just looked through all the menus and found nothing for crafting. I watched a video on youtube on how to craft and the menu he pulled up I don't have plus you can hear dennis talking about using the animals hides you killd to make stuff

So i just tried playing through with using the second save option but nothing. I'm gonna reintall the game, and the Usuckatmakingshit program

Well, it turns out it was a human error (myself) the entire time. Damn I feel stupid. But apparently if you just delete the game from steam, it's different than using a program to uninstall it. So I used CCleaner and uninstalled both Uplay and Far Cry 3 and than reinstalled each and started a new game and went though everything and now i'm past the fast travel issue and starting the game basically brand new. Thanks everyone for the help.

Not quite sure if i would call it a human error if ubisofts spyware wants to stay on your pc but great to hear that its working now :D
