Official Frame Rate Cap - Best Method!
Just thought I'd add this, because the current method to cap the framerate is by adding MaxFPS="x" to your GamerProfile.xml and set the properties to "read only", which means everytime you want to change Graphics settings or Gameplay settings you have to undo "read only" and then redo it, which is stupid! This method is using the same command line, but adding it to the 'target' box in the properties of the game's .exe shortcut.

SOLUTION:
  • Create a shortcut to the game executable.
  • Right click on the shortcut and go to 'Properties'.
  • In the target box, after the quotes, add -RenderProfile_MaxFPS 60
  • Change the value 60 to your refresh rate or whatever you want.

This method can also be done in Steam's "Set Launch Options" by adding -RenderProfile_MaxFPS 60. You may need to add quotes around the value - like "60".

This method is better than adding the command in GamerProfile.xml because you won't have to set the properies to 'read only', so you can change this FPS cap value without having to lock graphics settings or gameplay settings.

If anyone is wondering, this solution is also extremely effective for eliminating the 'microstutter', especially with DX11 executable.

I've added this to Far Cry 3's PCGW website page for convenience.

Hi, where did you exactly add Max FPS="60"? Can you be more specific?

go to C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\My Games\Far Cry 3
open "GamerProfile.xml" and add MaxFPS="x"
or
go to steam>library>far cry 3>properties>Launch Options
