P.S. same thing happened with my Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon...
This is one reason why i gave up on it. I had before steam all i did was activate it through steam hoping the Keybinds would work, but alas they still didn't. So it is basically Rubbish as far as i am concerned.
All I can tell you is that my legit Insane edition's binds, on driving especially, always reverted back to their default settings even after repeatedly setting the binds, and numerous installs. Even if there was a 3rd party prog that cured the problems, I wouldn't use it.
- Windows 7 restricitions for the given games to access the User's files
- Uplay / Steam malfunction (maybe it constantly "syncs" the controls, replacing those binded by user with those, saved in the Uplay or Steam cloud)
- "Read Only" flags on some files/folders in which the Far Cry 3 and FC3: Blood Dragon saves their controls
So the way of fixing this is either:
- Messing up with Windows file ownership rules
- disabling Uplay / Steam (or just their synchronisation options) like it is done in pirated "RePack" versions of the game, found on Torrents
or
- manual editing the config files and then setting "Read Only" flags on them and the folders, where they are stored, so the game / Uplay / Steam would be able to only Read the settings from these files, but not able to overwrite them with the default values
But for all of these methods, first of all we must find out in WHICH FILES the controls are stored, and WHERE ARE THOSE FILES situated on our PCs.
Or we can just use fixed Repacks, since we already payed for the game, i think. Still, that won't allow for multiplayer options like statistics, rewards, coop & multiplayer matches and so on, but personally i've bought this game to play it singleplayer, so...
Damn, i already hate all those companies that put crap like Uplay, Origin, GfWL and stuff in their games in addition to Steam - isn't ONE, FINE WORKING DRM system (Steam) enough?
No matter, how many ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ software they'll put in their games - there will always be Cracks, RePacks and other stuff, which lets poor/greedy/etc. people play their games for free, and they are just causing more problems to people who actually BUYs their games - and suffer numerous restrictions because of this pile of useless software, which duplicates it's already existing analogs, while pirates enjoy cracked games with no bugs, delays and aditional unwanted soft... =_=#
I've once gave myself a word that i'll never ever buy a single game with GfWL again - and what do we see today? Yepp. The GfWL is now officially goes down (leaving the games, in which it was used without multiplayer, scoreboards, communication tools, other stuff and tech support, but who cares, when they've already got their money for the sold copies of those games?)
I dream that one day they'll FINALLY understand this but... i know it's most probably just a dream...
-- oh, this is going off-topic, sorry.
So. Gotta google where the FC3 and FC3: BD keeps their settings... =__="
