Game won't launch - no matter what
FIXED/SOLUTION:

I finally got it to work!! What I did was to go into the System configuration, go to the "boot" tab and change the number of processors to 8!
Game is now starting and working. Just remember to turn it off again once going to another game.

I tried every possible solution I found online. Compatability option, update drivers, run everything as admin, even more and nothing will even make the game launch.
I also own the game on Ubisoft Connect and same issue there.
I use Windows 11 which, just a guess, is probably the reason why it doesn't work.

If anybody has a solution that isn't told in every thread with this issue, please let me know, because I really don't want to skip this game.

Oh yeah, there was also a solution about a certain file under "My Documents", but the problem with this solution is that there is no folder for Far Cry 3. Pretty sure the game needs to run at least once for this. So this one also doesn't work.

Any help is appreciated, even if nothing will help.

ive tried everything even changing the processors to 8 and nothing, my quick fix is getting it from ubisoft, no problems at all, same thing with elder scrolls oblivion, so i got it off xbox app and no problems, so my beef is with steam, because every game i have any problems with is from steam, period.

It seems like there's a different solution for everyone. For me as example it also didn't work launching from Ubisoft.
I love PC gaming, but sometimes it's such a pain to get an older game running.

This game is known to have an issue when you have too many CPUs.
It's a reason of why I cannot play it anymore as I do not cripple my system just for being able to run ONE SPECIFIC game.

Yeah I had this issue the other day. The game would launch fine if I used the .exe file in the installation folder but not by clicking play on Steam. I had to create a custom command to point steam to the .exe file. Uninstalling and reinstalling the game on Steam also fixed the issue...because reasons? I dunno.

Yeah that's why I keep my Xbox around. Sometimes I don't want to deal with time consuming troubleshooting or Epic Game Store exclusivity. Just give me a working game and let me play FFS.

Far Cry 3 was worth taking the time to troubleshoot though. I'm having a blast with it at max settings and high framerate. Can't believe the re-released version on Xbox is capped at 30fps. No thanks.

by re released version for console ya mean ? far cry 3 classic edition ..it was for consoles only and its SP only .. all they did was add better graphics for the game to match more like what FC 3 looked like for PC users in 2012

for the console version as the newer X box 1 and PS4 now have a decent GPU

as back then in 2012 the gpu in those old consoles .. well .. SUCKED
(Xbox 360 an the PS3 had a pretty weak GPU unit for FAR CRY games )

you have to remember far cry 3 development started over 10 yrs ago
(around 2010)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Far_Cry_3

and now they have no dev team / or budget / to try to rehash a game that shipped with only Win XP support ..things have changed in the past 13 yrs ..especially with hardware/ as well as net code ,,when FC 3 shipped it ran on a dual core CPU for gods sake ..and a quad core was a rich mans CPU ..let alone a vid card that had a gig of ram on it

so yea on a newer system you may need to tinker with it a bit, as its an older game that no longer has patches or support for future development

Yeah I'm talking about Classic Edition. All the Far Cry games got an FPS boost on Xbox except Far Cry 3 Classic.
-=SOF=-WID99 Jan 20, 2023 @ 12:23pm
again far cry 3 classic edition was for console only / was never released on PC or steam

all they did was update the graphics to more make the game to look like the original did for PC users, as PC always had better gpu options and better graphics

PC users never got far cry 3 classic edition

PC users if they bought the far cry season pass were givin the same version that was always available of the far cry 3 deluxe edition

as of OCT 2022 the game on PC lost server support as well as access to the DLC , if they had not already had it installed

if your on PC you should not be locked at 30 FPS .. my game runs much faster then that
but yes some cut-scenes will remain at 60 FPS

i do not own or use any console ..just a PC for me , thank god

Thanks for the breakdown but I never claimed it was on PC. I was clearly talking about classic edition being only 30fps on Xbox.

It's working well with my solution. I still can't get Far Cry 2 to launch tho, but it was more important to me to get this one running.
Dzert14 Jan 25, 2023 @ 5:15am
Maybe try tick "disable fullscreen optimization" in FC2 .exe properties

Hey Tsukino Mito,

Thanks for the update, I'm sorry to hear you're not having any luck with Far Cry 2.

Have you given all of the above steps a try with that game already too?

And does Dzert14's advice help at all?
